The answer to this is clear, the certification sticker should instead be an impression stamp on the tailpipe. Cant you use subwoofers, broadband microphones, and DSP to cancel exhaust noise?

You mean drown out your noise with a system? Why do that, then youll just get a loud radio ticket (stupid california and there stupid noise laws.)

Not to drown the noise, but noise masking and inversion of the "exhaust note" could cut measurements. I`m only guessing its been done before since submarines do that.

It's 10dB for a twice as loud perceived increase.
It's 3dB for a twice as high power (watts) output. Like for amplifiers.
It's 6dB for a twice as high voltage level.

Re: [FAQ] Cali Exhaust Noise Violation Ticket Review (old_school_dohcvtec)
nice info.. just got my ticket and was doing some research.
HT is the bomb diggity yo. Thanks LUSERKID, valuable info here
PS. my ticket says "NOT CORRECTABLE" .. is this a mistake on the officers part?
I have a greddy evo catback with a sound certificate saying that its CALI legal etc.
I showed the cop but he kept insisting my exhaust was a bazooka can, didn't care one bit.

What did you do after change the exhaust back to you’re modified exhaust? What happen when the cops stop you just show them that or was up? What if you past then you change it into a loud exhaust what happens then what happens when the cops pull you over & say that is loud?

I've given you a reason why it's better to have loud pipes on a bike. Now you give me one good reason why a Civic needs to have loud exhaust. </TD></TR></TABLE>

This is very good info. Now I noticed that your car is B.A.R.d, does the Ref have the right to check anything else on the car while you are there, maybe your car being to low or dark tint or illegal Intake or header etc...I don't what go there then get hit with a bigger fine!

Re: [FAQ] Cali Exhaust Noise Violation Ticket Review (Luserkid)
Thank you Honda-Tech.
like Luserkid says. you have to call in order to get an appointment. you cant just walk in and get a test. ive also asked the guy who tested my car if anyone can just ask for one.. and he said - no, only if you recieved a citation. anyone know why? other than the reason of having lots of people wanting random db tests when they want to..

Re: [FAQ] Cali Exhaust Noise Violation Ticket Review
Bumping an old thread, just had one more question for anyone that knows about this stuff. What happens if after getting a ticket signed off you go back to what you were running before? Do they keep track that they already gave you a ticket for that?
