Eg Cluster not lighting up
Heres some history about what ive been goin through, i traded my hatch for a coupe for personal reasons, i noticed that he had an ek cluster inside the eg coupe, i didnt like this so i found an eg cluster, also i looked for a new dash harness cuz the one that was in there had ek plugs for the cluster and didnt feel like recuting and soldering and what not, so i found a dash harness but it was for an auto car but everything still plugged up except the green plug that lights up the indicator on what gear ur in like park nuetral reverse and so on, i plugged the new dash harness up and all then plugged the eg cluster and it all works, tach, speedo, gas and temp all work, the indicatior lights that tell you ur trunk is open and all that light up, the only thing that doesnt light up is the tach, speedo and gas/temp when u turn ur lights on at night. everything lights up at night except those things. I bought new bulbs from honda and replaced them and still nothing, checked the fuses and still nothing. Got any ideas what it is, any input in the right direction would help. Also my brake light came on for the ebrake handle came on and wont turn off when i disengage the ebrake

see if you can borrow one from a friend cause that shouldnt happen, i had the cluster die on me years ago but turned out to be a fuse that also controlled running lights and such

Re: Eg Cluster not lighting up
i was installing a amp in my dads car and thought i could do it without the battery being off.. so i managed to do it with only one spark and that caused the cluster lights to not work..
all the fuses are good... im guessing thers a relay that went out.. when i try to bypass it with another power sourch and hook it up to the parking lights switch it burs the wire so thers power but the bulbs dont go on.. i tested them on my license plate lights and the bulbs work... wtf is wrong

check your dimmer switch
VERY common problem on EG's
and also make sure the fuse labeled "back up" isnt blown

Hey johnny do all the rest of your interior lights work?(Dashboard) cause mine don't and if your tail lights and plate lights work then our dashboard and cluster should work they are the same fuse.

ok i just want to be clear on what you're saying..your car is EG but was retro to fit EK cluster..so meaning the original EG plugs were cuts and spliced..then you got another EG cluster, and an auto eg cluster harness..
so did u remove the EK plug?? or you just wire tap it?
did u match up all the wires correctly, color for color etc..etc..
i would take the dash apart and re-check all your harness plugs wires..
one thing that happened to me in the past when i switched out for another cluster and it didn't light up was because, the copper trace on the back of the cluster where torn at one spot..everything else worked, indicator lights lit up just fine..just the cluster light itself didn't light up..
took cluster off, look at the copper trace and sure enough..there was a small tear that disrupt the flow of current..solder it using 18g solid wire, flatten with a hammer, as a bridge and voila! back in business..
try that, maybe it'll help..otherwise i don't have a clue about electrical on our car..
is there a different b/n the auto and manual cluster oe harness? with the exception of the auto having lit up P R N D etc..
