changing the ECU?

You mean pulling back the mat, unplugging the 2 plugs from the old ECU, and plugging in the 2 plugs into the new ECU?

Then putting the mat back into place.....

i dont know about a mat, but on my ej8 (assuming its the same as Em1) its behind the passenger side kick panel. there is one screw/snap on the side and one screw/snap towards the back and up top. remove panel ecu is then in a bracket behind that.

You mean the one screw/snap on the mat that holds it down?

I'll do it for lunch at In-n-Out (you'll have to fly me out to get it, of course)

Theres a plastic tab on the side of the kick panel, and a "screw" plug at the top (at the firewall).
From there, you kinda rotate the kickpanel counter-clockwise to remove it.
There, you'll see your ecu.
Remove the 10mm bolt holding it. Unplug the connectors (AFTER you disconnected the battery) and replace with the other ecu.
Enjoy the pointless swap...because it wont do squat on your em1

Is this 2000 Type-R p73 ECU a USDM spec ECU? If so, good luck with getting it to start in a Civic. 2000 & 2001 Integra ECUs = IMMOBILIZER. In order to stay OBD2b, you need a 1999 P73 or have the immobilizer removed and then deal with the CEL that's going to come on.

x1000. Not to mention you're running an ECU designed for a 1.8 liter with a 1.6 liter engine. You're going to be running EVEN MORE rich than usual, which Hondas are notorious for, so that alone will rob your B16 of both power and gas mileage. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother trying to install it. Sell it and buy an intake or something...
