*NEED HELP* OBD2 and vtec problem
Alright I got a 99 civic ex-obd2...Now the check engine light had been goin on and off occasionally for the last 3 months and only today did I get off my *** and check it with the diagnostics tester. Before I got around to checkin it I was puttin in a VAFC in the car and once I got done with that I tested it. It blew a p1259- VTEC system malfunction. I figured well ****, I just hooked up the VAFC wrong but everything looked to be in order. I changed the oil and oil filter, erased the code, then it went right back on. Now when I'm driving, once I get the car up to about 5500 rpm, it just bounces off of it like I have launch control or rev limiter or somethin. It wont go past 5500 at all. I need to figure out what the deal is with this...please help.
Also, before the VAFC was installed and while the engine light was still on...it never really seemed like the vtec was kicking in. The car is slow as hell- I've lost to some cars that I shouldn't have lost to. Now I have power steering, power windows, CC, pretty much everything power...do you think its becuase of the weight or the ***** *** vtec?

Re: (bluetorch)
did you get the vafc used?
if so what car did it came off from?
as soon as you see this msg, u shud try connecting those 2 vtec wires back to the ecu instead of the vafc

It probably isn't the VAFC. Before you ever installed it, you had a code which you didn't bother to check up until now. You mention that up until the VAFC installation, you never really felt VTEC kick in anyway. I'd wager that the code you never checked was related to VTEC in some way.
Remove the VAFC, reset the ECU and proceed to troubleshoot whatever code comes back. After that's done, re-install the VAFC.
