my buddy...currently had finish his Lsvtec...and took it to the track...he owns a 92 DX hatch....and when we took his car to the track.... his best et was 14.9....with a LS tranny..
do u think it should be faster for a frankenstein hybrid???is it the tranny...that is slowing him down????or is
it suppose to be running that way?????

b16 (si) pistons
Ls Rods...
B16 head...

everything is STOCK!!!

that doesnt sound too bad for an LS/VTEC, if he ran with a GSR Tranny he MIGHT get better times, but not by a whole lot

for a LS/vtec with B16 pistons, those times are slow. Your friends car will see a big improvment with a GS-R tranny.

Also tellin us what kind of car he put it in would be helpful.

A 4 door lx would make a big difference compared to a cx hatch.... oh, and the year as well.

He should be alot faster than that. The LS tranny is deff. hurting him but I would think he would still run a low 14. What was his 60' and his trap speed?

that is a slow time. my old stock b16 ran 14.6 on stock exhuast. i now have a Ls/vtec with p30 pistons and a b16 head. and its about a 13.9 sec car on street tires. his tranny has to go for sure. get a GSR. or a B16 hydro tranny. i would go with a b16 hydro becuase of the gear ratios. what was his 60ft time?

basically,,,his whole motor is stock...no after market pistons or rods....just all OEM stuff.....i was thinking that.....the LSVTEC..should be at least alittle faster then a STOCK GSR motor.....since it got a bigger displacement..den a regular b18c1 motor......

Does your friend actually know how to drive? A new tranny will really help out, but if he can't drive worth a ****, then why is he even trying. Practice, practice, practice.

have you dynoe tuned it yet? that high compression motor has tons of power to pick up if youll strap it onto the dynoe and play with the fuel.

Play with the ignition time. LS bottom ends are pretty sensitive to timing.

Well I just went through an lsvtec and will tell you right now it's not the engine. It's either tranny or a shitty driver or both.

It is the tranny. One of our guys has a 95 DX coupe, full interior, LS Vtec with GSR head and LS tranny and is stuck at a 15.1. He is planning one getting the S80 with LSD but even a GSR tranny will help out. LS gear ratios are loooooonnnnnggggg.

a good friend of mine had an ls tranny with his usdm gsr swap in his egg and his best time with it was a 14.2, then he gotten a gsr tranny and went down to a 13.9, so "ITS NOT THE TRANNY" practice driving, launches, etc........

your BOBO.... it doesnt matter how much power you have, its the way you control the power...it looks like your friend cant drive....

someone can have a 1000 hp car, but if he cant drive it, hell get a 20 second 1/4 mile...thats just what i think... but a 1b6 or b18 tranny would work better for your friend...also maybe make it a cable tranny so its more direct than a hydro....
