Default **PICS** Del Sol X brace Help Please

Also posted in the weld fab forum but no help cos no one looks there

Okay, so i see many hatches and some integras with those X braces by EMRACING, BUT none for Del Sol's. I'm going to attempt this by using the seat belt bolts as my means of bolting the thing down. as shown below:

I think I'm going to use some 1" piping i saw today at Home Depot.

MY QUESTION:
i dont really know how the end links should look like... I'm not talking about how the two bars are going to connect, but rather HOW to bolt them to the seat belt bolts. I've seen some ROD ENDS online. Is that what i should use or can someone suggest something else. Oh BTW im going to be using my Snap On MIG welder for this project.

ANYONE WHO CAN HELP? thank you very much!

You could maybe weld an L braket to the ends, bend them
to what ever angle you need and bolt it to the seat belt as if it were a washer :shrugs:

OR

try here......https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=53

EDIT: just read the first line in you post disregard ^^

They don't make that part for the sol cause the sol doesn't need it the way hatches and teggies do. While the back of these 2 cars are wide open, thus allowing flex, there is that seperation in the sol, which adds to rigidity.

Making that brace for a car that basically has a coupe design (2 doors, seperate trunk) is like nailing a 2X4 to the empire state building to hold it up.

I totally agree here. the metal used to hold the rear window is pretty strong, otherwise the window would probably crack if the car flexed to much.

also, when i drive one of those, i need the seat all the way back, and the brace would not allow that to happen. make sure it'll be comfortable if you go through with it, otherwise it's a waste

Unless you put a full cage in a del sol, I don't see how you plan on making it rigid since the del sol is one of the weakest chassis that honda produced. The front and the back of the car solely depend on the floorboard and two doors to keep them in line with the roof off the car. The roof helps, but not much.

So putting an x-brace in the rear section will not really change things unless it's tied to the front end.

I have something similar, but its just a harness/ C pillar bar, not a full X brace.

only tack welded here, to ensure it would fit right:
