**98 y7 swap to y8 HELP LOOKED ALL OVER
So I have a 98 dx hatch... had a y7 and i found myself a y8
ive done the swap 2 weeks ago and have been working thru the wiring.
( using my stock harness )
Ive found a couple write ups saying how to run the vtec wires ( 2 and a ground ) to the ecu,
also needed to wire the KS to the ecu. very simple.
double checked triple checked my wiring. even with the haynes manual.
So heres the deal.. cEL is on.
ran a code checker... came up with p1259 ( vtec system malfuntion )
and p0108 ( MAP high circuit )
I have a P2P ecu
stock y7 dizzy
The car starts up and runs at idle. but when pushing light on the throttle it bogs and dies
Ive been playing with this for almost a week now cannot find anything on this. or what the deal is.
As far as the vtec goes.... ive read maybe change the oil. did that today.... still throws code.
also read that it might be the oil pressure switch on the vtec
I also swapped out the map sensor for the one that came off the y7 ( never had any probs)
So if anyone has any help or any ideas... please let me know... the bigblock chevy is starting to kill me on gas and would love to drive my hatch again.
PICS WOULD BE MOST PERFERD....
thanks in advance HT

Well your vtec isn't going to work unless you wire it up unless you have that done already. And someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you would have to use the y8 dizzy, not y7.

1. I'm assuming you did the IACV wiring fix.
2. You need to wire in vtec for it to work. It's not magical lol
3. Change you map sensor, if that doesnt work you have a loose pin or frayed wire somewhere.
