Default ** Blown Gasket, motor swap, GO! or NO go? **

Well, after spending 700$ tuning up and replacing the distributor in my 94' EX coupe, I just blew a head gasket and warped my head, which of course is going to cost me quite a bit as you guys know. But, as you see I’m a trial user here, yes a newb as you would say. But my question is, no not how to build a “10 second car”, “how many times you watched the fast and the furious” or where else can I put neon’s in my car.

My question is, due to this mishap and it costing so much, should I just pay to replace the head and the gasket, or should I just do a motor swap since it won’t cost me to much more (I hear). Second, what is a common decently priced motor that I can put into a 94’ EX? A friend said to go with a H22A, and that I could drop in a t04 turbo? But that seams to be pricy and personally I don’t think he knows what he’s talking about. So I’m turning to you fine people.

Thanks in advance for the help and assistance

I would just replace the head if I did not have another car to drive daily. I guess you have not given enough info about your transportation needs. YOur H22-suggesing-friend is leading you dwn the wrong path IMO.

COMPLETE LS swaps with less than 50,000 miles can be found for less than 1800. This is what i would be looking for if you need something reliable. Then down the road when you learn a little more, you can do a ls'vtec. Just my .02

But if you need to get on the road fast, just swap the head and call it a day. Don't get a dealer to do it or you will pay out the a$$. Used head installed shouldn't cost more than $500-$600.

forget the H22. Get a b18 or b16(18 is my suggestion). If you don't have the knowledge or time, find a VERY reputable shop around your area to do it for you and they should take no more than a week or two to get it done. if you need any other info, e-mail me at japtendencies@aol.com. I just got done doing my swap a few days ago. I didn't do enough research and unfortunately it took me 3 1/2 weeks to get my **** back. If you wanna do this I'll tell you all the little stuff you will need so you won't have that big of a delay.

A week or two? A "very" good shop should have you in and out within 4-6 hours.

One or two weeks. ****.

Week or two is average here. There's a whole 3 shops that are reliable around here, and only one deals mainly in honda's. So, they are usually backed up 3-5 days before the car can even get in the garage. I guess a week or two is kinda long, but I had a lot of **** that got installed, plus parts not getting here, etc. Us midwestern folks don't have many options when it comes to this stuff.
