It happened to me as well. I didn't do it myself, I didn't have any ***** at the time. I got this guy at this shop to do it. Invest in a torque wrench. I did!

You think that will work on that tiny *** bolt? I dont know how small that extractor is lemme know, also do you think i need to remove the head to take out the bolt? Im afraid of getting metal shaving inside the heaed when i remove it. Any recommedations?

be very careful the same thing happened to me on my d16y8. I tried everything,(hondabond) took it to machine shop and the stealership. Cost me mucho dinero. Had to buy a new(used) head and then a new(used) IM. After that the car ran like ***** and that is why I have a b16 now.

Well damn, Sounds like i should just but some epoxy on the end of the bolt and just put in there, and pray i never need to take the valve cover off. I will probably end up with a b series before long if this keeps up. It make the car leak oil and makes a big mess.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=668651 here is my thread...same thing happened to me. Actually it happened to me again after that when my friend was tightening the bolts down. All you gotta do is drill it out and use a bolt extractor. It just takes patience and be careful. Use a magnet or vacuum to keep the shavings from getting in your head. About what that other guy said about his car running funny afterwards...i didn't experience any of that and i don't know why it would run funny unless you dropped a shitload of shavings in there.

edit: now I always use a 1/4" ratchet and grip it towards the socket to give your self less leverage...then just hand tighten it. The less leverage you have the less likely you are to break it.

yea no problem man. Vacuum works great. Just get a buddy to hold the vacuum tube up to the hole as you drill. The shavings will get sucked right into it. A magnet is a little bit more of a pain in the ***, but will still work. It should probably take 30 minutes to an hour to drill it out.

all you gotta do is buy an new bolt take off the valve cover then use a deep socket to take it out. no need for tapping. put new one back on. then your done.

I need to ask wich bolt on the valve cover it was,
I stripped out the center one in the front. On my SOHC vtec. Well the previous owner decided to...I installed the original honda rubber washer on a really short bolt and bolted into the hole of the valve cover...B/C it is the front center and the valve cover is held on with good bolts on each corner...Hasn't yet leaked. Probably thanks to a new gasket and plenty-o-Hondabond.

get a small flathead screwdriver and make a notch on the broken bolt by hitting it with a hammer and then just unscrew it out. thats what i did when i broke one of my valve cover bolts.

Go to sears...get the easy-out screw extractor...looks like this...

You use the smallest one...it works...I've done it before. You use the drill bit end to drill a hole in the center of the bolt...then...flip it around to the threaded side...stick it in the hole...and back the screw out...took me 5 mins. Good luck
