***** how it is possible to get worse MPG with new spark plugs ?
Car: 2000 civic ex sedan MT
Mods: NONE - bone stock
Miles: 69,000
Driven: like a granny, shifting 60% at 2500rpm, 40% at 3,200 rpms
Clutch: stock still grabs okay
Spark Plugs: NGK at autozone... pregapped
Air Filter: OEM replacement
TESTED: full 10.5 to 11 gallons to almost bone dry.... have been doing this test almost every time I fill up
Weather: I'm in MN... weather does not seem to affect it very much at all

Okay I got this car 1yrs ago(new spark plugs)...right when I got it I always seem to get 290-315mpg on full tank (hwy/city).... after driving 15K on the same spark plugs; the past 2 months I've been getting 350-370mpg on full tank.
Last week I change spark plugs and they were fairly bad. BLACK & basically worn down to the crown. The motor did have better throttle response but nothing to get excited about...... BUT I instanly saw change in MPG after 1-2days of driving it.
WTF? I bought my civic to get good gas milage....
290-315 MPG on 11gals IMHO is not all that great
Any thoughts?

my thought is if your getting 290 - 315 miles per gallon then your getting incredible gas mileage

Please do not rely on the pre-gap. I would check the gap again.
I just regapped my plug's and noticed better MPG and smoother rev's.
I am seeing 280 to 300 on 9 gal fill up. You got me beat.

I'd definately check the gap out on the plugs. You'd be surprised at the number of little things that can make them close close up.
