If it's the problem ur thinking of...but if it's not and it's the actual dummy light for ur oil...definately make sure there's enough in there or ur gonna roast the engine by the time u find out why it's on...

^That's way too much. Just under 4-quarts is all you need.

Um my guess is that you put too much oil in the car.

What car do you have? I think a 96-00 non-vtec requires 3.4q and vtec requires 3.8q...

5 is way too much, drain some out, I don't know why else it'd throw that light except for low oil.

oil light runs off oil pressure. You're not getting enough.
Oil pump is crapping out
Dirty oil filter
Clogged oil pickup
Bad oil pressure sensor.

Honda's oil pressure sensors don't turn the idiot light on until the pressure gets tp some insanely low level.
I wouldn't drive the car until I got that problem fixed if I was you.

+1, oil level has nothing to do w/ the light until its so low that theres not enough pressure at the sending unit, which is like under 1qt.

Back from the dead.. But on a JDM cluster is the Red circle with brackets around it the oil pressure light? I thought it was the little oil pourer and drop.
