Default Winter tire choices & options

Hello all, i recently joined honda forums. Have learned so much already reading the insightful threads. Well, ths is my first post 😃. I recently purchased a 2018 civic hatchback sport touring edition. As winter weather is fast approaching, I wonder if anyone here has recommendations or experience with winter tires. I did a bit of asking around and received the followig quotes:
1 full package with 18X8 Motegi M133 rims with Sailun Ice Blazer WS2 tires $1750 taxes in
2 Bridgestone Blizzaks $1982 taxes in
3 The Michelin X-ice Xi3 $1982 taxes in

Any info or experience with these would be much appreciated.

Thanks

you want a smaller skinnier tyre that has a simple rim . I did an ice studless tyre not 18x8. Don't do that. Only $1000 shipped. Check thetirerack.

I honestly wouldn't recommend steelies, because of the amount of damage to the brakes would be experience from additional heat and lack of ventilation due to snow clogged holes. I've seen that before. It's not easy washing out those holes compared to a cheaper open-spoked wheel.. Those brakes are larger than what most Honda owners have ever seen.

Interesting, never considered that. I'm up in BC and I've never seen or heard of that happening with steelies. The biggest problem I see all the time in the winter is wheel wells filling up with snow, freezing (given a lower temp,) and then making contact with the tires.
