Whistling Sound

My 2016 Honda Civic Turbo has developed a whistling sound at ~ 3300 RPM when cold, and using light throttle. Sound is also present when decelerating at same rpm. Sounds a bit like pressurised air, or maybe a suction noise. Very light but has been increasing. Before I start tightening clamps I thought I would put the issue out for comment. Car has 12,000 km.

With your car being so new, wouldn't it make more sense to bring it back to the dealership for warranty repair instead of trying to track the problem down and fix it yourself?

Purely guessing from my previous experience with other turbo cars (VWs mainly), it might be a turbo re-circulating valve of some sort that has become faulty. My old MkIV VW used to eat the OEM plastic diverter valves every 1.5 - 2 years.

Yes, we are going to visit the dealer...however this issue is also happening in the new CRV and I want to develop some of my own information.

My old Citroen used to do that - it ended up being brake pads (i think!). My Citroen started whistling before it turned into a scream not long after!

Take it to the dealer before you do anything. If you start tightening things and messing with things you're not only hurting Honda in it's ability to solve the problem, you run the risk of doing damage that warranty will not cover.
