transmission and brake fluid replacement
At 30K maintenence/oil change, transmission and brake fluid replacement pushed by dealership. This seems really early for a 2016 civic touring. Commuter/interstate driving. What is a safe mileage range for fluid replacement? thx!

Tell your dealership to show you published Honda documentation which calls for those services. If/when they are unable to produce said documentation, tell them to pound sand.
Regarding those two services (which are two of the following four, depending on the car):
Regarding those two services (which are two of the following four, depending on the car):
- Brake fluid: If the car uses DOT-3 brake fluid (yours does), then replace the brake fluid every three years (there is no mileage requirement).
- Automatic Transmission Fluid: Every thirty-thousand miles is good advice, however, this may differ from what is in your Owner's Manual (follow what is in the manual).
- CVT Fluid: Follow the recommendation in the Owner's Manual (I have no idea what that would be as I hate CVTs)
- Manual Transmission Fluid: Some folks (and most manufacturers) say MTF is good for the life of the car, some say every 100,000 miles, oddly enough, my TL says every 30,000 miles. If you have a manual and it shifts nice and buttery, leave the MTF alone.

Re: transmission and brake fluid replacement
CVT fluid is a good idea to EMPTY & REFILL at 40K miles. I say this because you want to catch the fluid soon enough that it isn't scorched and will come out cleaner and go in cleaner. This is a forced induction vehicle, so you will have more heat in the engine/transmission transferred - so good idea to be maintenance friendly.
BRAKE fluid is at least every 3yrs regardless of mileage. If you have the know how it is fairly simple and you can lubricate the caliper slide pins at the same time. This is a good way to keep the calipers pressing w/o getting stuck or uneven brake pad wear.
Caveat to the two fluids above (plus Engine Oil) is:
IF you are tuned and puting out more hp/tq then you should increase the frequency that you change your fluids.
Hope that gives a little more insight....
