All the Reasons to Get Excited About a Civic Type R CVT
And regarding the now debunked talk about the CVT in the CTR. I find it hilarious that some major mainstream media outlets ran with the story. It proves journalism is dead.

A couple years ago, I would have 100% agreed with you. With the advancements of technology and such, I would have to seriously consider it. -And in a performance car is where I think it would actually shine. There is a reason F1 banned it...because it was so damn awesome. I wont rewrite a great article about a CTR with a CVT.

A snappy DCT in the CTR would be nice.

I test drove a hatchback sport yesterday. The 1.5t was quick and responsive. I really look forward to the Si version. Hopefully it will have a VTEC head instead of VTC. it's a good time to be a Honda enthusiast!

The cylinder head will be the same. It is my understanding that a camshaft change and a slightly larger turbo will be the only engine changes... closer gear ratios and a LSD will be added to the transmission.

Re: 10th Gen Civic Si / Type R rumor mill
For those who didn't see, Honda today unveiled the CTR Black Edition. Autocar.co.uk is reporting that this is the last 100 cars on the Swindon R production line. Hopefully this signals that they are retooling the line to begin production of the next gen R.

Resurrecting a dead thread, but oh well. Honda currently has three different 1.5 liter engines: the Fit L15B1, the US Civic L15B7, and the UK Civic L15 (unknown engine code right now). The L15B1 is DOHC, has VTEC and VTC on the intake cam only, with the intake manifold and the starter motor is towards the front of the engine, and the exhaust towards the rear. The L15B7 is DOHC, has VTC on both cams, with the intake manifold and starter motor to the rear of the engine, and the exhaust towards the front. I don't know much about the UK L15 yet, but I do know it has VTEC and VTC on the intake cam only and makes about 180hp (134KW) and 177 ft/lbs (240Nm), the same as our Civic Sport Hatchback. I'm thinking that the Si will have VTEC on the intake side, and VTC on at least the intake, maybe exhaust. It has already leaked that it will make 192 ft/lbs. They didn't give an RPM for that, but Honda did say that it will be the most powerful Si ever. This means more than 205 hp. 192 ft/lbs at 5500 RPM equals 201 hp, and at 6000 RPM equals 219hp. I'd expect 210 - 227 HP from a special L15 with VTEC and VTC on the intake, a larger TD04 turbo (verses the TD03 for the standard engine), peak power at 6000 - 6500 RPM, and a flat 192 ft/lbs between about 2500 - 5500 or 2500 - 6000 RPM. Assuming the torque plateau goes to 5500, expect ~210 hp @ 6000 RPM. If the plateau goes to 6000, expect ~227 hp @ 6500. Just my 2 cents.

You do know that this is the "10th Generation" thread and you have posted a picture of the "9th Generation" Euro CTR right ?!?

Then I was like, "Oh. Wait...."
LOL....
I really do not want to buy a CTR, but things keep popping up to make me re-think that. I really don't think I'd have time to drive it.

BTW -- Hi George, my blue CTR should finally be in by the end of the month.
Most reviews are quite favourable (except for possibly looks), plus the new tech on the car is considerable and it's said to be a "driver's" car.
Best Regards, Ed
