Yes the winter will do a number if the salt don't get to the alum the cinders will chip the wheels.
I have a set of honda HFP wheels I can show you that are chipped to hell.
I have a set of new civic factory steel wheels,( no tires) and a set of LX caps that I took off my 07 when it was new, if you need something for winter rubber.(I live in Ne Pa)
I would just get a set of decent 205/55/16 and save you good wheels for the nice weather

Re: Winter & After Market Rims...
I can attest to winter damaging rims. I live in new england and the salt destroyed my last set on my integra a few years back. It eats away at the finish. go with Bee guz's suggestion or find some steels and slap some studded snows on, provided NJ allows that?
