Default Honda Civic Non-Si Header

Hey guys, is it true that the header is integrated in the non Si civic's? How will you be able to change the header then?

I don't think you can which is a but why put a header on a r18 it isn't made for performance you prob wouldn't gain much good luck.

Why do you constantly bash the R18? Seriously, you drive a CIVIC just like everyone else, off the high horse please.. There are many, many, many, MANY non-SI civics that would absolutely, completely crush your SI in every type of race imaginable. And they aren't paying 500+ a month for it either.

Yep, there isnt a header per say as that portion of the exhaust is intergrated into the head itself... But, you can get a "downpipe" which would kind of be the equivalent of a header i suppose

I would certainly hope nobody would pay ANYTHING for a 6 or 7 year old civic. Most people that have the kind of money to drop 500WHP in a civic usually have the car paid off by then. Haven't seen or heard of too many 01-05 Civics puttin out insane amounts of power.

At least he wished him "Good Luck".

For N/A performance, I think this R18 is worthless. Strap on a turbo and it's a different story. Honda gave us a turbo manifold

They just don't get it they try to use what i pay like its a big deal i knew nothing about buying cars and was extremely excited anyway. Like many poeple have said its pointless trying to get all this power out of the r18 when a SI will still win with minute mods. 2 me a auto r18 turbo is a joke thats just my opinion i could care less what the outcome of this comment will be.

Somehow I doubt that. . Even with Intake and exhaust you still won't have the power to take out a 2000 Si with more power much less "smoke" him, unless he had some serious problems or unless it was a base model sporting fake emblems and decals.

The R18 is better than the older base model civics power wise, but not the Si and certainly not a 2000 Si which is fairly light as well.

Back on topic...........

To the OP.....yes the header is integrated so no aftermarket header. But there are alternative means of seeking power which should satisfy you as mentioned by a few other members in this thread. The R18 may not be an Si, but it's still a tuner frenzy for the younger crowd so i'm sure more and more parts will be released as time goes on.

If the 8th gen had an exhaust and intake wouldn't its power be nearly identical to the EM1? Just curious.

Should be close I'd think. The 99-00 Si was rated at 160 HP using the old method, while the 06-11 R18 has 140 HP using the new method. I would bet that the 99-00 Si would be closer to 155 HP using the new method, from what I've seen on other cars. The 99-00 might still have a 5-10 HP advantage over an R18 with an intake and exhaust.

Even boosting wouldn't the em1 still have an advantage mod for mod, and being lighter with having better suspension? Or is the r18's potential still untapped

Good point. Plus I'm assuming that the mechanics of the em1 were designed with an intention of sportyness, where as the fa1s were not. I geus the advantage the r18 has is that its a newer engine and most likely less worn then an older engine.

You guys are forgetting one very important thing POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO!

The EM1 makes more power and it a lot lighter how would an r18 even have a chance unless turbo but would an unfair advantage as it wouldn't be N/A.

The problem here is that people buy a car that is economical and want to make it fast and sporty. The problem is that the car nor the engine were designed for it. Back in the day a lot people were swapping for a reason because the stock engine wasn't worth the headaches for the minimal power it would give out. I'm not trying to bash but it's the honest truth.

But I won't disrespect anybody who wants to still mod them. I understand getting an exhaust and intake for a little more sound!

An 06 Civic EX coupe is 100 pounds heavier than a 99-00 Si.
