Tinting
I just bought an '06 EX coupe which I didn't get yet, but I want to tint up the windows but not too much because I drive in jersey a lot and there its actually illegal to have any tint on the front driver or passenger windows. I was wondering what percent you guys would recommend that would look good but not too dark and if anybody had any pictures.
Thanks
Thanks

It's not illeagal in PA... it's just stupid. I think its like 70% or something silly like that.
Honestly though, how many people have like 20% or less and drive everyday without a problem.

I have 35% i believe, and it looks darker from the outside than the inside. I suppose it would be obvious to the police at that. 10-15 would proly be a good bet on not being able to notice.

im getting my windows tinted this weekend. i think im doing this.
15 % on all the sides and rear window...and 30% on the windshield. My buddy has that same set up on his 350Z and it looks real good. no cop trouble either. (Probably cause i live in Alabama where no one cares about anything)
pics?

no, it is illegal in PA. Ask a state trooper, also look it up on penn dot
You are not allowed to have tint on driver and passenger side windows. You are allowed 35% on the back driver/passengers windows and rear window. Also, you may have a 3" strip in the front (check the size on this one).
Unless you have a medical reason and carry around a doctor's note, you can't have tint on driver/passenger windows.
Go to any suburban area and a cop will not hesitate to pull you over for tint. Philly cops don't care about tint, they have worse things to worry about.

Maybe you're right but I was on a site recently that had the state laws for tinting listed. It had all 50 states and said PA was 70%.

In a Junkyard near you.
Va is pretty crazy with it. The front windows you can barely tint (my civic is barely illegal and i've gotten 1 ticket) but the back windows can be much darker. But an SUV or van can have limo tint in the back and it's fine.

check with Penn Dot website, it says otherwise. I'm too lazy to look it up. Also, on that site is it 70% light comes through or its blocked out?

I'm sure it meant the amount of light that comes in.
Found this though:

I live in PA now but I bought the car in VA. I've got VA tint, 50% on the front and 35% on the rear. Compared to half the cars I see up in the Lehigh Valley, mine looks stock. Go to cardomain and look up onetruhondagrl's Si in the 2006 page. I've got tons of pictures. In some (except the first pic, it wasn't tinted then) it looks really light in others dark.
You can do it. Check the law, if you get a ticket, don't argue with the cop 'cause he'll find something else to get you on. Once you have to go to court, pull the law then and state how you weren't in the wrong. It's a pain but it's better than having Philly's finest hem you up for "loud exhaust noises", street racing or anything else they pull out of their butts.

Re: (Nishant)
I think this has already been established but I will throw my 2 cents in.

This is the page from PennDot showing the acceptable levels of tinting alowed in PA. The percentages shown are the percent of light that must be able to go through the window, so in this case 70% of the light that hits the window must pass through it. I dont think I know anyone with tint that light as it would be hardly noticable. Even 50% is pretty light and not worth it IMO. From what I have seen is that you can still sorta see through 35% (my personal choice if I ever get it done) and 20% might draw attention depending where you go (my friends have gotten harassed for 20% and darker). This is about 30-40 minutes SW of Philly where my friends who have tint got told to remove it but I know plenty of people with ~35%-40% that have never had any problems at all. Since I have actually been in Philly for school I have noticed alot of cars with dark tint (5%-20%) and the cops dont seem to care like was mentioned before.

With regards to 20% or darker tint, it will really depend on where you are. In philly, most cops won't care because they have worse things to worry about. A former friend had 20 or 15% got ticketed for his tint in the ne philly. He was forced to remove it.

Re: (Nishant)
I just got pulled over this afternoon by NY's finest for tints. I have 30% on a NBP. Luckily I didnt get a ticket because I was still in uniform on my way home from work. I think they were just looking to bust *****.

Re: (Michael Bolton)
I live in PA (15-20 minutes from Philly). I have 15% visibility (dark). I have it on my rear window, blind spot windows, and side windows. No problems yet, but a fam. member who is a police officer in philadelphia says that 70% is the legal limit in PA. He says they don't usually bother you for it, unless you act like a dick when you ride buy or they pull you over for something else. (they don't want to take the time to see if your tint is legal or not).
***15% looks good tho - dark, but still alittle lite

the lower the percent, the darker the tint
as fOr cali. its illegal to tint the front windows except for that strip on the windshield.
