Tint shop messed up dashboard
Yesterday I went to get my tint replaced at a tint shop and when I came back to get my car, my dashboard was ruined. It looked like they spilled something on it and it somehow bleached the plastic. The installer blamed it on ME that I brought the car in like that when I didn't. When I dropped off the car it was all clean and even the manager was in the car inspecting everything before they started working on the car so he knows that stain wasn't there before. The manager however is being shady right now not returning my phone calls to fix this. I'm really pissed because the guy won't admit they spilled something in my car and they're not making an effort to fix this. Do you guys have any solutions for me? Thanks.

I'm not sure what the tint shop used - generally all you need is ammonia/water mix (Windex will even work). I suppose it's possible they used pure ammonia which may be harmful to your plastics if left on there in the sun.
You can take them to small claims court or just suck it up and buy the new part.

2. Present this to the shop, if they refuse to pay have a lawyer write them a letter.

I'd be heated.. That would result in a fight if I didn't get paid for the damages.. Do what the guys said above, I'm sure it'll all get worked out in the end..
You should tell them you're going to spread the word about the damages they did to your car. Last thing a tint shop wants is bad rep because it is hard to find good ones anyways.. Well atleast around where I live.. People make mistakes which is understandable, but if they cannot admit it, that's whack..

Classic reminder of why you have to be careful when choosing which shops to deal with. Sorry to see this happen to you OP.
As the others have suggested, price what it will take to fix and threaten with small claims court. Hopefully it works out for you.

Re: Tint shop messed up dashboard
Getting an estimate and getting a lawyer is good, but I would start with a different (and cheaper) avenue.
Contact the Better Buisness Bureau and start a complaint.
The BBB will contact the shop in writing with 10 days of your complaint.
The shop has about a week to reply to the BBB and if the shop does not reply, BBB will ask you to contact the Attorney General's office within your state/county/city/etc. to file an official complaint.
A lawyer may be necessary in the end, but you may be able to recoup your money without the added expense of legal counsel by taking the route that I have suggested.
Also, if you paid for your tints with a credit card or bank card, call your CC company or bank and tell them what is going on. They will likely recall the funds immediately from the tint shop. This will add to the documentation and will also show the shop that "You are serious about getting restitution for the damages".
Aside from that, make sure you document it with dated pictures. Pictures taken before the install that show a lack of damage will be key.
I hope this helps.

most reputable shops will point out any areas which look damaged before they start to work on the car. avoids a lot of hassle.
its going to be hard to prove who did the damage in court after the fact

Re: Tint shop messed up dashboard
i agree with testify's post. but hopefully everything will work out between you and the shop before you have to make any additional steps. that sucks though.. i would hate to have to spend money on a lawyer for such replaceable parts
