Tanabe Exhaust HP/Torque Gains

Anyone have any information concerning horsepower/torque gains on the

Medalion Touring Exhaust and Medalion Concept G Exhaust (http://www.tanabe-usa.com/conceptg.asp?id=8).

I'm interested in purchasing one of these systems, but would like more information about it.

Which one is best suited for supercharged applications? I have a 2008 Honda

Civic Si Coupe. Any information provided will be extremely helpful.

I have not seen a dyno about this exhaust, but based on an educated guess, I'd say 5HP max. More with SRI or CAI. And of course more with forced induction.

Any gains you would probably see are all on the top end.

...what the crap are you talking about? An upgraded exhaust won't hardly give you top end gains. HP gains will be found in the mid-range.

"Probably." Calm down, I didn't mean that as an absolute. A catback alone would not yield significant gains over stock without some sort of rh coupled in there.

I agree with you there, as long as you don't consider 5whp in the midrange significant.

If you don't want to read all of this, please read #3 below...

I just installed this exhaust. (picture 1 below) For those of you wondering what it sounds like, it is still very quiet, but richer with low rumbling tones. Sounds like what you get with an S2000 or Mugen Civic.

3 things...

1)
Right in front of the resonator is an extra grommet hook. I'm not sure why it would be there unless this system is produced for another car model that has a grommet mount there. Comments on this? (picture 2 below)

2)
The "mid" grommet hook doesn't have a bend at the tip (picture 3 below), and the back pipe really isn't laying on it with enough force to hang from this grommet. It is more just there for stability. If you can tell from the image, if there was enough movement of the system, it can slither its way out of the grommet. The OEM back pipe hook, had a bend at the tip, which made it near impossible for it to slip out.

3)
Finally, the first 10 miles of driving was smokey has hell. A ton of white (oil) smoke billowed out of the exhaust. It was especially worse after a hard run on the freeway (of course). Do all aftermarket exhausts do this!? I don't believe that much oil should have been in the pipes. It pissed me off because the oil residue collected on the inside of the exhaust tip and spoiled the chrome. Anyone else experience this? Just to clarify, the oil WAS in the exhaust pipes. It was not from my motor.

I think the extra hanger is there because the exhaust is produced for the sedan and coupe with only a 3 inch extension being the difference between the two. The sedan needs the hanger, the coupe doesn't. Both of my Vibrants were/are the same way.

Thank you. That was my suspicion.

The concept G is just an axle back, so your going to have to buy a header and midpipe somewhere else. However, it sounds like sex, atleast on my LX

awesome exhaust... did the smoking went away after a while? I believe it's just the stuff inside burning off... happens a lot on new exhausts.

personally i love the carbon build up on the inside of the tip. for some reason it makes me think it's more hardcore and obviously the owner knows what they are talking about since the exhaust doesn't look brand new

Yeah I had purchased it brand new. Those images have 0 miles on the exhaust.
