Which short shift kit to get?
 

The next upgrade to my car will probably be a short shift kit. There are 3 available that I know of, and I am not really sure which one to go with. Would I be better off with the Corsport, Comptech, or TWM short shift kit? What are the differences (if any) between them?

I noticed that the TWM has optional aluminum base bushings that the other 2 do not. What exactly do these do? Would installing the base bushings and cable bushings make enough of a difference to be worth it?

I dont actually have any of the 3,

but through my research it seems corsport has been the choice of most and they also have a bushing set, someone on here reported the smoothness with ONLY the bushings was a world of difference.

I would assume using corsport kit and bushings would provide a nice experience. I would add a weighted shift knob.

I have the TWM still in the box so I have no experience with any of these either. But If it was me I would get the stock Mugen SI. The bad part is you have to own a Mugen or know some one who owns a Mugen to get them.

Off the top of my head there are

CT-Engineering with no cable bushings

With cable bushings.
TWM
Corsport
StrutKing (there is a group buy on 8thcivic now)

If I cant get a mugen si shifter then I am going to install the TWM from every thing I've read on 8thcivic there the best.

The throw is a little shorter but i was hoping it would make it easier to actually move it into gear. It hasn't. Especially going into 6th, i still have to push it down hard http://is.rely.net/1-92-65076-l-NREc...mLFY3DaZnA.gif

i have the "comptech" version. the ct-engineering one uses a different locking screw than the "comptech" version but is pretty much the same as corsports. i love my comptech ss. i dont really see the need yet for the cable bushings but maybe down the road i will get it.

From what I have read so far, there have been issues with the Corsport ss rubbing and not fitting quite right. Has anyone out there had issues with the Corsport ss?

What makes the TWM the best over the other ss adapters? What about the Mugen? I have read that the Mugen ss kit is a full assembly instead of just an adapter. Does this really make a difference?

You said that the TWM didn't make it any easier to move into gear.....did it make it harder (to move into gear)?

I know there are more people out there with ss kits. I need some more opinions!

I think that the simple that it was a slightly shorter throw made it "easier" to put in gear. I still have to pull down pretty hard, especially at high revs/acceleration. If i'm not assertive enough i'm almost guaranteed to grind going into 2nd. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emdgust.gif

Do you mean $59, or is there somewhere else that has it for $49?
