Sounds like you might have a leak.
Bring to the stealer.

really...i thought it was just a weak a.c.

Re: shitty a.c. (N4me (06civicsi))

make sure you aren't making the AC work too hard:

roll down all the windows before you start the car (and sunroof if you have one)
turn on AC, highest fan, NOT-recirculate
drive around a minute or so to get the indoor temp down at least to the outside temp (a closed car can be 140+F)
After a few minutes of driving, close the windows and switch to recirculate

It's easier and a lot faster to cool 100F air than to cool 140+F air.

Mine is kind of weak as well, in my LX it got cold enough where it was potentially uncomfortable, but in the SI it's just 'cool'.

I have an lx and the a.c. works really well. It gets really cold fairly fast.

Re: shitty a.c. (a1staecksauce)

in my ex, my a.c is amazing. fastest best working air conditioning i've seen in a car. MIND you im in ontario, it's not 35'c yet. temp is averaging from 15-27... but either way, i'd get it checked ou

Steven5210 May 31, 2007 10:23 AM

hmm looks like im not the only one! My LX ac even on max fan speed seems like its blowing out air thats only a tiny bit colder than the air outside! It makes me rather open the window!

EmoHatch May 31, 2007 10:28 AM

Mine gets cold in less than a minute.

yeah my AC sucks too. Thats the first thing I noticed. But it hasnt bothered me enough to go to the dealer.

Im thinking the compressor needs to be charged.

no problem here, my EX cools down pretty fast.
you might want to take it to the dealer.

COMplex. May 31, 2007 12:53 PM

My A/C is almost too cold...

The car never sits outside so it doesn't get too hot, but when it's 80-90 degrees, I just run max a/c for a few minutes, and then put the a/c fan to 2-3 clicks.

Most of the time I have to turn it to feet because I get VERY cold! lol

Shiet. Mine works great in Texas heat. I have to turn it down to level one within 15 minutes because I get cold. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

mine is cold fast take it to dealership

Demonis Jun 1, 2007 06:15 AM

mine depends on how i am driving, if i get in it, turn it on and then don't go anywhere fast or stop and go, its not too great, but 60+mph on the highway i will get snot-cicles.

octoBOT Jun 1, 2007 07:46 AM

Re: (Demonis)

Once I have like 3 bars of engine temp my si blows real cold. It was 90 degrees the other day and I had to turn the temp gauge up a bit because my hands were ice cold. And on a brand new car, it damn well should be that way so tell Honda to fix it. I sell Toyotas and they all blow ice cold almost immediately, even the shit box corollas and yarises. But don't be too stupid to open all the windows and let out the hot air first.

kenw Jun 2, 2007 02:28 PM

Re: (octoBOT)

After reading what you guys were experiencing, and starting to pay attention on mine, I think what's going on is that during moderate-heavy accelleration, the compressor shuts off. This is fairly common and helps get more power when you need it (AC can take 25% of your power away!).

I had an old mazda that did this, and a few cars since. Typically a vaccum sensor detects low engine vaccuum (= accelleration) and shuts off the compressor clutch. Today it may be ECU controlled rather than vaccuum.

I was checking mine today and it seems to be the case. Slow down and it starts slinging ice cubes. Push it and it blows a bit warm until you back off the gas.

If you are low on freon, racing the engine usually make sit colder, so that works just the opposite.

Well I went to Vegas right after I got my car and I think it was over 100 and my ac just stopped working, but when I came back to cali and try to take it to the dealer it started working again... i'ma take it in anyways before my warranty ends i'm at 25,000 right now hehe https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
