Question about using 5W-30 oil instead of 5W-20 in an '07 LX
I read somewhere that Honda uses 5W-20 motor oil in the LX due to the slight improvement in gas mileage that a lighter oil provides. From what I read, Honda has to meet certain fuel economy criteria due to regulatory requirements and using 5W-20 helps them to do so. Is there a tangible benefit to using 5W-30 oil in the LX? I have heard that using 5W-30 will help the engine to run cooler. Does anyone know if this is true?

Houston can be pretty hot during the summer months. We see 90°F+ temps from June through September. The coolest it gets here is ~25°F and that is very infrequent.

You wont notice any difference between the two besides maybe a slight drop in MPG
