OT Rant: Hailstorm just rolled through!! :(

Well you knew it had to happen eventually. There's a hailstorm rolling through right now as I am typing this.....commencing on pelting the shit out of my car with pea sized hail. http://is.rely.net/1-92-83128-l-OQ7p...WduI005zmA.gif

15 minutes and counting this storm has put a beat down on San Antonio.....solid hail throughout. Not big hail.....but enough to most likely do damage.

I can't assess the damage or post any pics at the moment because it's dark outside.....and frankly i'm not looking forward to tomorrow morning. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

So looks like the car will be out of commission for a while to have some body/paint work done.

All is well. Would you believe it? I went outside....and nothing. Not a single dent. Not a single scratch.

Unbelievable. That storm sounded nasty. I was sure it would do some damage.....but I parked underneath a tree with a full bloom of leaves so I guess that cushioned it some.....that and the hail must not have been as solid as it sounded.

another trick if you dont have a garage. cover your car with towels before the hail starts.
glad the si had no damage.

This storm came out of nowhere.....literally. One minute the weather guy is telling us that it's dying down and should fizzle out to nothing more than just a few heavy showers. Next thing you know.....it flares back up again and goes nuts.

One minute there was silence and a few rain drops...........the next a terrential downpoor with hail. There was absolutely no way to prepare for or even react to something like that. It just came out of nowhere and there was nothing I could do once it started.

And by the way....the wind was soo strong it would have blown the towels right off the car had I put them on.

However I am already looking into getting a fully enclosed canopy.

Seems like some of the Pheonix Sun's prayers have been answered.

That's TX weather for ya. Glad to hear the Si was damage free. Tonight's suppose to be bad again the DFW area. Argh, glad I have a garage.

Really, about to towel thing? Are there any car covers that do this? I go to Iraq in a few months and will be gone 6 months... I'd really like to keep my car covered/inside while I am away but that won't be possible.

SIVIC 3 04-27-2008 06:13 AM

if you throw towels on there the rain will make them wet and they will stay. they will absorb some of the impact from the hail. it was just a tip if your out of ALL other options. it has personally worked for me before I got a garage. now I rock a 2-car https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif
