Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
In researching some coilover options, I thought I would post what I have found:
Red Shift Motorsports posted on their Facebook that they are now a retailer for Motion Control Suspension (the former Moton). 8th and 9th gen Civic coilover solutions are in the works and soon will be available. They also offer a Koni Yellow/ground control set up for the Civic as well. They mentioned that the 2014+ Si model is on its own platform, FWIW. I have not found this on their website just yet.
Fortune Auto is offering a 8-9th Civic coilover system and is said to be performing very well. They were recently at the global time attack last week and took first in the unlimited FWD class on PZ Tuning Will's 9th gen 2012 Si.
Goodspeed is also offering a coilover suspension for the 8th and 9th gen Civic. They have cars with their products participating in some motorsports events, but they don't give me a 'warm and fuzzy' like some of the other manufactures do.
Any further coilover system information would be greatly appreciated. For the sake of this thread, I would like to keep it orientated to track duty suspension, rather than 'hardparker/stance' coilover systems.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
I know the boys running the godspeeds... they participate in Global Time Attack also.
I'm also running the Godspeed Mono Max and first track day is on Monday a full 9-5 private day only 10 cars.... yes I can't wait!
I'm really loving this suspension rides really nice on medium soft settings on the street... will turn it up at the track a little lol

Sweet! To me, and I hate to judge a book by its cover, they just appear to be cheap. No where does it mention that the Godspeed coilovers are re-buildable and able to be tuned which are two key factors when jumping into a real-deal coilover. And speaking of cheap, they are very inexpensive. -as in like 1/3rd of the cost when compared to a product from Fortune Auto.
Again, I have -0- experience, never seen one in person, never driven on one, never called them...just brief online observation. If they work for you, great! I'm excited to hear your experiences.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Update:
Was at DDT yesterday for a full of track.
1st my day was cut short. I unfortunately didn't have enough time to prep my car due to having to go back home for a funeral. My brakes were at the shop but didn't have enough time to install them.
2nd and most important from the time I did run at the track the Godspeed coilovers did great! They were honestly responsive and giving me the feedback I needed to attack the corners as much as the tires would allow. I did play a little with changing the dampening and when I went a little stiffer the difference was huge. Overall I'm very pleased and can't complain at all. The Mono Max are purely designed for track more so then street.
I know you were saying they are cheap in terms of what Fortune Auto is concern and yes they are but there is a reason for that. Godspeed is changing direction in terms of the companies vision. They use to do a lot of different products but most of them weren't made in house. They have ditch the turbo line (which was horrible fyi) and other lines too. They have decided to focus solely on suspension products. Right now they are rebuilding the name and that is the reason for the lower price difference.
Honestly the quality difference between my old Buddy Clubs and Skunk2 is very noticeable. They are a step above them I personally feel and I'm not biased at all. I honestly liked my Skunk2's more then my Buddy Clubs cause I felt more connected to the car and could get a better prediction to how my car was going to handle. The Godspeeds have the right spring rates for the 8th gen also which I like a lot.
The guys running on Godspeeds are in Global Time Attack... if you search up Big Red I'm sure you'll find the 8th gen I'm talking about it. It was running the Mono Max but now it's running a dual adjusting Mono Max for dampening. He is very fast and also his 9th gen he owns is on Mono Max too. My buddy Jason also is running Mono Max on his 8th gen in Global and other event. He has a white 8th gen with CTR conversion in the front to run wider tires. I believe he is running 255 in the front. Big Red is running something crazy like 295 in the front!
Both those guys are on the 8th gen track facebook page also that I'm on.
I will say the Fortune Auto stuff does look great and I would also consider them too!

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Forgot to update this but I did my brakes last week and all I will say is it stops on a dime.
If anybody is curious this is my setup right now:
Stoptech SS line on all 4 corners
ATE Type 200 brake fluid (formerly Type Blue)
Hawks HP+ front pads
Nissin OEM rear pads
4 new Brembo blank discs all around .

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Thats a great track brake set up you have there. Hawk advised me of the Street/Race front with the HPS for the rear, which would be the next step up on both ends for you.

Finally got my track build going , just got in my Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Very nice wheels!
A few questions...
1. Are you going 245 all around?
Reason I ask is because if you are running 245 in the rear you will have a lot of issue getting enough heat in them and maybe having way too much tail happy moments.
2. Since you are running a 245 why didn't you get 17x9 instead?

I am running a square set up because this is my DD car and I drive 15 miles one way to work 6 days or more a week so I want to be able to rotate. When I get more of a budget to run more I will get a more dedicated track set up.
Hopefully the nice hot surface temps we have in the SoCal deserts out here will help that. Average track day weather for me is like 80+ degrees
It seems no one really tracks the fB6 so I guess I am going to be one of the test cars to figure out what works lol.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
In the process of looking at doing a retune...
The tune I have was done by me and a fellow flashprotuning.com member... but I think revisiting the tune I could probably make it a little better and maybe have a nicer power curve. I don't really care for the whp as all they are is just numbers.
I'll measure the improvement on the track by how many seconds I shave off!

Put on springs and went to local canyon for a shake down of the set up. Amazing difference car just grips and grips. Very neutral and new tires are HUGE improvement
Next on the list will be Hawk HP+ pads and motul RBF600 fluid
Also SPC camber bolts and read camber arms.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
ya i said it was overkill too last year when I went out for the first time on a big track... going down the back straight coming to the braking zone, hitting the brakes doing probably 180km/h and then **** me the pedal goes all the way down because the pressure from the brake fluid cause the lines to expand!
I had to use the run off... the brake pedal feel was never the same after a few laps. When you are out you need to have a constant pedal feel on the brakes also!
Doing the braided line, I know I have gained easily a second a lot as I can push a little longer and brake later.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Since there is no good front tow mounting solution for our cars and I don't want a big *** metal tow hook that I know I will bang my shins on working on the car. I got this tow strap that my friend used on his NASA race car. Just going to require small mod to the bumper to allow it to come through but not a big deal. And it's only 20 bucks lol.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Went out to the track yesterday.
With the tires/brakes/suspension upgrades from last year I was 5.8 seconds faster. I still could of dropped another 2 seconds if I didn't run out of gas and didn't for get my cherry can at the shop

What are you guys using for end links other than OEM? Mine are shot to **** and clunking pretty badly now.
