Default Motul 8100 Sythetic Motor Oil? You guy's thoughts.

I have read all 4 of the Synthetic Oil threads and nobody mentions Motul. I currently use Mobil 1 with a K&N Filter and love it, but want to switch to something different. I'm thinking on using the 5-30 Motul 8100 Syn with either the K&N filter or either Greddy Filter. Anyone on here use Motul 8100? Is Motul a Group 5 Oil like Redline. I considered Amsoil, Redline and Royal Purple.

Yeah it will be around $72 for the Oil change using Motul and either K&N filter or Greddy. I usually pay around $58 for an oil change using Mobil 1.

Unless you do any extensive HPDE events and such, you won't notice any difference between Motul and $2 Valvoline.

The advantage of synthetic over conventional oil was its resistance to thermal breakdown, in a daily driver thermal breakdown is not an issue

Why do you say that? I actually used to work for Valvoline. Thus why i was happy to reply. I almost never see anyone on here mention Valvoline.

Whooptie doo. That tells me nothing. By your posts so far, you probably know your product about as much as Seth knew about Farrow Tech.

I see what you're saying. I mean honestly I don't drive my car daily, it's more of a weekend car. I guess my main reasoning for the expensive oil change is because I love to have the best in my baby. Plus when I do drive it, I drive the hell out of it. I've been totally pleased with Mobil.

Wow. Just wow. Can anyone participate in a thead without being insulted/bashed and having a bunch of thread ****** being uppity? What's the big deal? If you want to recommend two dollar a quart oil to everyone fine.

But i think that would imply that most of us are stupid for using full syn if we don't do track days...

Perhaps if you actually brought something informative/intelligent to this forum, you wouldn't get insulted. All of your posts seem like they were written by some 10 year old moron.

I've used Motul before. Previous cars I ran Motul with my turbo Civics in the brake, clutch and engine oil. I honestly can't say it made any difference from Mobil 1. Butt dyno no register, wallet dyno hurt from the $12 per quart. Went to Neo oil which is next to Baker Precision over here in Socal, they're oil supposively made a few ponies on the dyno. Might try that next.

I'm curious: You said you've been using M1 " . . . and love it . . . but want to switch to something different." Why?

More specifically, what are you expecting Motul will do for an unmodified 2-liter Civic Si motor that M1 doesn't?

The reason I considered a switch is because I like to have the best I can buy in my car. Thats just how I am, I am not expecting to gain any HP. Motul is a good oil and better than Mobil 1. I don't do any track driving, or even use it as a daily driver. I just want to best I can buy for my car, point blank. And the answer to your last question is protects better. I'm not bashful when I do drive the car, it constantly sees redline.

do your homework, buy amsoil, i use it, and contrary to popular belief mobile1 does break down over time, statistically amsoil outperforms all other synthetics.
