Ingalls ETD and Melting Rubber

Default Ingalls ETD and Melting Rubber

So I decided to adjust my ETD today, to make it a little stiffer. As I'm loosening it up, I notice that the rubber ring between the washer and the ETD on the front bracket has completely vanished. (There are a few shards of rubber there, but for the most part it is destroyed) The one on the back is perfectly fine.

1. How important is the rubber ring?
2. Where can I get a new one?
3. Has anyone else experienced this?

I would assume it would allow for some free movement with the etd so the unit itself does not get stressed or flexed when the engine moves. My thoughts would be that its pretty important.

I am sure you can get ingalls to send you a new one. They might even send it for free. Their cust service is very good.

I have never heard of that happening to anyone. I am assuming it might have been over tightened to begin with or maybe got twisted and pulled by the mount itself?

Without pictures I cannot hypothesize any more then that as I cannot recollect exactly what they look like and I just went the full-blown approach with mine and got new motor mounts.

1.) not too sure. possibly for noise reduction or less cabin vibration.

2.) maybe ingalls, but its just a rubber ring and you can most likely get it at a hardware store.

3.) i've had mine for over a year already and i never experienced your problem.

If that is the order you had the washer and the rubber ring installed on the ETD you had it wrong and that's how the rubber got crushed. I just looked at mine and the rubber ring goes between the ETD and the brackets.

You had the rubber ring against the bolt head. The rubber is supposed to be between the brackets and the ETD to reduce vibration.

The instructions were very clear when saying what order to have the nuts, washers, rubber rings in relation to the ETD.

When standing and looking at your ETD from above and from left side to right on either of the two connections you should have.

Nut, bracket, rubber ring, ETD, washer, bolt head.

I figured out the problem.

I had it set up

Bolt, bracket, washer, o-ring, ETD, Nut

I knew it made no sense at the time, but I thought that was how I read it. Oh well.
