Help - CVT fluid change, opened check plug first and didn't overflow with 4 bottles

Hi Guys, first time posting. Was doing a CVT fluid change and instead of opening the drain plug first, I opened the "check" "overflow" plug first and immediately closed it.
Now when I went back to put new fluid, I ran out of fluid and it didn't overflow after I put the shifter in PRNSL.

I'm wondering if I could just warm up the car and shift thru PRNSL and fill it till it overflows? Seems like too much came out?

Thanks.

Re: Help - CVT fluid change, opened check plug first and didn't overflow with 4 bottl

When I change the fluid in my 2015 civic, I know it will take about 4 quarts already. I warm up the car then drain the old fluid with the car level for at least 20 minutes. then put in the drain plug and tighten to 36 foot pounds. I then will fill with exactly 3.7 quarts of HCF-2 fluid. I then warm the carr to operating temp and then shift through gears 3 seconds apart. Then quickly go remove the overflow plug before the engine cools. While level add fluid slowly until is seeps out. I dont go over 4 quarts on this.

In your case, I would just warm up the engine until operating temp. The fans probably wont come on so dont worry about that. Just run it for 10 to 15 minutes. Then run through the gears and back 3 second apart. then quickly go pullout the overflow and fill plugs. If you see it seeping out then you are fine. If not then just add a little until it does. Try and stay right around 4 quarts total.
Hope this helps.
