they give you 2 months at the most. if you don't pay, then a repo order goes out. and if you dont pay your payments, its like you're stealing the car basically.

so after reading all your posts, i'll give my .02. my boss's son has been doing repo for the past 20 years, and the most common technique they use in my area, is that they have someone in a uc car drive to your job and match the license plate and vin, then they have the repo truck a few blocks away, and the person in the uc car will either call in the truck then, or tail you around and when you're away from the car, they will take it.

think of it as an extended test drive.

It's funny how everyone trying to tell the dude how it is are correct and how everyone trying to find loop holes to hide from financing companies are completely wrong...

Repo'ing is a business. They get paid per car like a tow truck company. No repos no money... People do crazy things for money... Even kill people. Don't think disconnecting your GPS will keep the car around...

QFT.

OP/your Girlfriend, you should be worrying about making payments than the GPS. Work with the finance company and see if you can make another deal with them.

op most banks/lenders do not want to repo a car in the long run they loose money on the deal. The best thing you can do for yourself is talking get in touch with the lender and try and set up a payment plan of some kind. Most banks will work with you as much as they can to keep a repo from happening. The quickest way to have them repo your car is stop talking to the bank and dont make a payment

From a legal perspective you are in default 1 day late and any financial institution has the right to decline payments, demand payment in full or take the car.

Really for one day late in this economy ? thats seems harsh as hell the 2 months late seems more fair its easy to get laid off/ have your contract terminated now a days

But to the OP your GF should really try to make your payments if they see you are trying perhaps you can keep your car

BS!

If your work or job is tha sparatic or unpredictable you should've never financed a car! That's a major problem. Nobody owns up to their problems. We need more personal accountability in this world and less babies that say " it's not my fault I got laid off or the economy is bad so somebody please go easy on me"

The world is a harsh place...get over it and OP man up and make your girls payments before I spread my wealth and make them for her and take her away from you

Ummmm they will track her car and repo it. Period. I have an 09 accord with gps on it and I woke up one morning and it was gone. I got it back, lost my job and attempted to park it at my sisters house and they kindly retrieved it from there. Point blank if they want the car they're gonna get it no matter what u do. U can probably get a signal jammer so they can't pick up the gps signal but if can afford one, you may as well use the money to make the payment.
