Theres a reason it says it on the fuel door and the owners manuel, but remember, save your 10 cents a gallon but a new K20 is about $7K

As I stated before I've only used premium and have no problem doing so.

But again if someone accidentally fills up with lower octane they will be fine, get over it.

I think if you can afford a 08' Civic Si in this economy, I'm pretty sure you can afford premium gas.

Whoa dude...it's not a Lamborghini. It's still an economy car. But either way, if you a buy a car (no matter what car) with a requirement for premium fuel, you're accepting (before buying it) that it's an extra expense (again only $2.60 per full tank) that needs to be accounted for. Doing anything else normally (and not in absolute desperation) is just stupid and irresponsible.

Another thing to consider is that I'm sure Honda could deny a warranty claim on a blown motor, if they find evidence it was run with anything other than premium fuel.

i used 87 octane once...that was before my dumbass noticed the recommendation for premium fuel...so now i use 91+ octane. Gas mileage is decent. Im averaging mid 20s....but im also still breaking it in. My 09 SI sedan is still around 3k miles

I just got my 12' Si and Ive read up on this. From what I read it wont hurt ur engine but it wont be performing at its peak neither. So whats the point of getting the Si then.. I look at it as I opted for the Si, Im not gonna start complaining about using premium. Its a decision I made b4 I purchased it, 2 only use premium.
If using regular was my focus all the other (mostly) honda models r made for regular. Not the Si

I believe my manual mentioned possible knocking if you use below premium.

I always use premium in my cars, plus an additive on fill ups. (Lucas treatment)

Also, where I live, Premium is around 15-20 cents more per litre (Southern Ontario). So it does vary on the state and country!

premium here is 50-75 cents more so I can see why someone would want to know the answer. Some places I've seen up to 90 cents more.
