Default ex hfp suspension vs si suspension

hfp is offered for non-si civics and I am wondering If I should pull the springs and coilovers (maybe more) off a scrapped civic si from a junkyard instead of the non si's hfp. So basically the question is how does the stock si's suspension compare to non si hfp.

The Si SPRING(not coilover) rates are different due to there being more weight up front, larger sways, different OEM wheel/tire size, etc... You could use the stock si suspension but it seems like it'd be a waste IMO.... you'd be better off geting some aftermarket equipment or EX HFP setup./

btw search is your friend

Dont dare put the oem Civic Si suspension on your car. It is not made to drop your car. Because they are stiffer it will only raise your car.

From Hondanews.com:

- Civic Coupe Exclusive Suspension Tuning To achieve sport coupe performance, the Civic Coupe has the following exclusive suspension tuning compared to the 2006 Civic Sedan:
Front spring rate increases 20 percent
Rear spring rate increases 28 percent
Sport tuned front and rear damper settings
Solid front 25.4 x 3.5 mm tubular stabilizer bar (up from 24.2 x 3.0 mm)
Solid rear 11.0 mm stabilizer bar (up from 10.0 mm)

Civic Si Exclusive Suspension Tuning To achieve razor-like performance, the Civic Si has the following exclusive suspension tuning compared to the 2006 Civic Coupe:
Front spring rate increases 17 percent
Rear spring rate increases 14 percent

Track tuned front and rear damper settings
Solid front 28.0 mm stabilizer bar (up from 25.4 mm tubular)
Solid rear 17.0 mm stabilizer bar (up from 11.0 mm)
Heavy duty front wheel hub and bearings
Heavy duty front and rear lower control arms

No one can tell me so far how stiff the HFP suspension kit is compared to the stock setup for my LX or Si for that matter.

I know its not supposed to drop it, but it would still be a very significant upgrade compared to the ex suspension, since the stock civics suspension is better then the rsx's WITH a-spec.

the ex is 'only' 100lbs lighter, will that really affect the springs that much?

If you mean the 100 lbs are distributed evenly throughout the car then it shouldn't matter. Where do you think the extra 100 lb lies? Thats what will throw off the height and handling of the car.

I know it's not only from the engines extra .2L , the civic has thicker sway bars etc.

one of those "thicker sway bars" that you think weigh so much is in the front... along with the other 90% of the added weight from the motor..

Have you ever seen a B-series in an older civic with stock springs or lowering springs for the D-series? The front end is slammed and the *** is in the air. That's why Progress makes swap springs, and people use coil-overs. Just buy the right stuff for your car.

If it's an EX, get the EX HFP suspension.. it's cheap too, $480 for MT

First of all the weight distrubution for non-Si's is 60/40 and the Si is 61/39
- manual EX weighs 2698 lbs.
-Si weighs 2886
Hondanews.com states a lot of differences between the Si and non Si, such as "heavy duty" hubs, axles etc...
-You may know that the oem Si suspension if put on your EX will not lower it but what do you think will happen when you put a stiffer spring on a lighter car. (Given all oem 8th gen Civics come at same ride height - which is so)
In the end you will have a suspension that is 17% stiffer up front and 14% stiffer in the back and you will have a larger wheel gap, and you will have raised your vehicles center of gravity.

$480 for the sedan, $600 for the coupe! = I'm thinking low demand for the Civic LX,EX sedan HFP suspension kit. What again is different between the coupe and sedan suspensions?

Sadly I have an auto ex, the slowest. But the weight diff is not nearly as large with the auto than the manual. Over half the time I drive I have passengers.
