Civic Hybrid, reversed polarity at jumpstart

Dear members,

I have to troubleshoot a Honda Civic 1.3 Hybrid MY2007.
What the owner told me is that they reversed the polarity when jump starting the car.

Now the engine cranks but does not start.
There are no faults stored in the ECU, immo is off. It is possible that the ECU is fried, but like to measure all power/gnd connections before jumping to conclusions.

Looking for wiring diagrams/service manual and tips to start with troubleshooting.

Thanks, Msmax

Check the fuse box in the engine bay. 80A Battery fuse might be blown (common with crossed jumps).

Under-hood Fuse No. 1 is a multi-block fuse (100A/70A). If it is blown, disconnect the negative battery cable from the under-hood battery first before replacement.

Can you post the power distribution circuit diagram for hood fuse box? For example, would a blown fuse 1 prevent the engine from cranking?

This is the under-hood fuse box power distribution and starting system for 2006-2008 Civic Hybrid.

Thanks tech8. Based on the circuit diagram, the starter would NOT be able to crank the engine if fuse 1 were blown. OP says engine cranks.

RonJ@HT,

You're correct that the car shouldn't crank if fuse no 1 was blown. I honestly didn't read the OP's full post when I posted, I was following up on toyomatt84's post regarding the battery fuse and reversed polarity at jumpstart. Usually the battery fuse does blow when that happens.

Agreed. OP should generally inspect fuses in the hood and dash boxes.

Hi mate

Slightly different fault here regarding a Honda Civic Hybrid 1.3 Petrol , I have the 100a fuse which keeps blowing coming from the DC converter.

I unplugged the DC converter cable from the battery at the engine bay, car started first time after replacing the 100a multi fuse. Tested the DC cable wiring for a short to ground, disconnected from both DC Converter & battery, and there was no short prosent.

Therefore isolating the problem to the DC DC Converter, the inverter, or the IMA battery. Despite reading about numerous faults, there is no service bulletins for this sadly.

Any help will be much appreciated.
