civic hybrid 09 turbo kits available and safe?
hey everybody
i own a civic hybrid 09 and and i have thought about putting a turbo kit on it and i thought its possible but is it safe for the transmisson?
i have tried to look over on google for turbo kits on hybrid but i couldnt find one. and couldnt find anyone who have done it and wondering if anybody of u have heard or know about it? please let me know i would like to know and it might be interested
it would be nice to add 200 whp and some big tq number with good mpg!

hmm....I don't even know what to say here?...I'm sure it could be done...What's the displacement on the gas motor on the hybrid? 1.3 liter? Well I'd say throw a gt30r on it and push about 20psi! haha

With all that aside, Honda is working on a turbo Insight, Subaru is working on a turbo cross-over too. Not all ideas are as far fetched as they first seem to the average person.

Most turbo kits can yield 200+ WHP for the Si. In fact the only quality turbo kit that doesn't on the regular is the Greddy.

Either way, this concept of boosting a hybrid is beyond pointless. It's like eating a cheeseburger on a treadmill.

I agree that boosting an already in production Hybrid is a terrible idea. There is no way of knowing what it will do to the electronics of such a car. Not to mention nothing in that car is ready to hold much power at all.

why buy a hybrid if you're looking for power? it's against the entire point of the car. start with an si if you're looking for power. i hate to be captain obvious, but the hybrid is the worst trim of civic to turbo (not that the r18 is much better).

Or even better, a d17.
35+mpg is a little much, but certainly 30+mpg easy.

Uhh...Idiot? If ANYONE with a boostfed car keeps there foot off the floor they all can yield some good MPG's. A boost controller doesn't do **** but allow you to easily add or subtract boost. A boost controller alone wont save you more gas.

There is no reason to make a turbo for a hybrid because in short the reason why you buy a hybrid is to save fuel, not burn it getting faster from location A to B.
You can't have excellent fuel economy and be fast, not yet anyways...

there is a boosted insight by LHT performance, and yes its still a hybrid, its 5 speed i'm pretty sure. as for a 09 hybrid, they all come cvt automatic and i wouldn't want to mess that trans up, because any engine modifications, the warranty will not cover replacing the transmission.

If you modify the vehicle and don't have problems, the state of the warranty does not matter, because you do not need it. Chances are that when you modify a transmission as complex as that, you will run into problems, and therefore void the warranty.

Speaking about legitimate warranty claims....
The law states and obligates the dealer/manufacturer to prove that any part(s)/modification caused or contributed to the cause for which the warranty claim was sought. If the part(s)/modification cannot be proven to have caused or contributed to the cause the dealer is obligated by law to honor the warranty claim. If the part(s)/modifications did cause or contribute to the cause then the dealer/manufacturer can deny the claim, but they cannot void the warranty.
They cannot arbitrarily deny a claim, "oh, you turbocharged your engine and that put undue stress on the transmission causing failure, therefore we deny your claim," they have to prove it. Most likely the clutch packs wouldn't hold up very long in a case like this.
Come back when you have taken a couple of Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act cases to litigation or arbitration, like I have.
