I think it's still a nice car to have at that price.
Let's face it. They've hit a home run with the entire 2006 Civic line.
They made every change that we wanted, and addressed every issue we talked about.
We wanted 200 HP and they gave it to us.
We wanted a Torsen axle and they gave it to us.
We wanted caster and they gave it to us.
We wanted a lower steering gear and they gave it to us.
We watned the tie rod off the strut, and they did it.
And on top of all that, they've gone and given us one of the <u>safest</u> cars currently sold in America, according to the NHTSA and the insurance foundation that rates the crash tests.
So... What I think is that it's still worth it.
If you're looking for a good deal, though, you might want to look at the Accord six cylinder, six speed in either sedan or coupe. My own 2006 6-6 coupe's out the door price (including tax, title, tag, processing and everything) was $26,000 flat and I have heard that Honda is providing dealers with incentives that could make the price even a little lower now.
0-60 in under six seconds, too. The Accord fair hauls, if you're looking for a better deal than the Civic Si, but I still think the Civic Si is an incredible little car that's worth the new sticker price.

I agree with you, George, a lot of car for the money. I think my plans might be put on hold in hopes that they decide to offer the 4 dr Si version. Some of us NEED the utility offered there.

IMO it doesnt look that great

I know this isn't about the markup, but it is interesting none-the-less.
