Can't find civic ex w/auto back up switch, anyone?
2006 Civic EX sedan w/auto.
I'm not getting 12v to my reverse/back up lights.
I've checked the fuse under the hood, per owners manual.
I have found the OEM part #28700-PWL-013
Rockauto also offers the swich assy., back light.
I've seen a photo of the new switch, at autozone and rockauto.
It shows a 2 wire connector.
On the left (drivers side) I have removed my air filter assy and can see the top of the tranny.
I see a flat-like plastic housing shaped like a broken "t".
Where is the back up switch? What color are the 2 wires on its connector?
I need to check for continuity between the back-up light switch 2P connector No. 1 and No. 2 terminals. There should be continuity when the shift lever is in reverse.
Update: Summary...Seems like disconnecting and re-connecting the 10 pin TRS connector is all I needed to do.

The Honda part number you listed is for a manual transmission.
Also, the fuse is Fuse No. 10 (7.5A) located in the under-dash fuse box, not the under-hood; the fuse gets power with the ignition switch in ON or START.
On an automatic, the back-up light switch is part of the transmission range switch. The wire is White and part of a 10 wire black harness connector. When the transmission is shifted into reverse, then a ground (-) is sent to energize an A/T reverse relay (which is part of the multiplex integrated control unit (micu); located on the under-dash fuse/relay box. When the A/T reverse relay is energized, the relay contact closes and provides power (+) to the back-up lights.

Re: Can't find civic ex w/auto back up switch, anyone?
The car isn't here today, but i"ll
take the driver's tire off,
remove the TRS cover,
unplug the connector,
and short the white wire's pin (on the disconnected harness) to ground.
Will this simulate shifting into reverse, ie... sending the ground thru the white wire towards the relay, within the micu?

Re: Can't find civic ex w/auto back up switch, anyone?
I got the driver's front tire off, moved the plastic fender liner (small piece) out of the way, removed the 2 10mm bolts holding the thick plastic black TRS cover on.
I disconnected the 10 pin connector. On the harness (female) side of the connector, I shorted pin #9 (the solid white wire) to chassis ground, with an alligator test wire.
I turned the key to accessory (without starting the engine), but the automatic transmission shifter would not move.
I removed the key, put the connector back the way that it was originally, turned the key to accessory, and shifted into reverse.
Now, I removed the connector and shorted pin #9 to ground. The "R" on the dashboard came on and the back up lights came on.
I shifted from reverse to park and back to reverse several times and the lights worked, each time.
I put it into park, removed the key, removed the shorted (test alligator wire), and re-connected the 10 pin connector.
I turned the key to the accessory position, put it in reverse and the lights worked.
Seems like disconnecting and re-connecting the 10 pin TRS connector is all I needed to do.
