A/C conversion kit for a 06 civic DX??
Hey all. Im a new member now. i am not new to this site. I have found a lot of useful info from here just never as a posting member.
Okay, now to my question. My girlfriend has a 06 civic dx. She wants an A/C unit on it. I know they have conversion kits. The cheapest I have found is $1,060. We called honda and they quoted $800 to install. Is there any way to maybe make our own kit and buy the parts independently to make a kit? There has to be a way save a little money i would think. Could I just buy like the Compressor and lines off ebay and maybe get the necessary parts at a junk yard? Thanks for your help guys.

Hi.
If vehicle comes without A/C, you need following parts.(probably you know already)
-A/C compressor(with thermo switch and clutch assembly and field coil installed)
-New belt(serpentine belt)
-High side line from compressor to condenser (receiver/dryer installed)
-high side line from condenser to mid connector.
-High side line from mid to evap.
-EVAP unit
-Temp sensor on EVAP unit
-TXV(thermo expansion valve) valve(usually comes with EVAP)
-Low side line from EVAP to mid connector
-Low side line from mid to compressor
-metal grommet to holds line.
-0.45kgs of R-134A gas.
If you buy all stuff individually, it will be cost more than C$2,000.
Just call around dealer , find better price. It will be much cheaper.
Also you have to remember , you can not rely on the parts from junk yard .
If accident happens, where was get damaged first? front parts. Condenser and compressor.
Hope you will get proper installation/
