Just received the recall notice for the passenger side airbag....way to go Takata :/ They in their infinite wisdom decided to switch from Tetrazole to Ammonium Nitrate (same as a fertilizer bomb) to save a bit $$$. Unfortunately this stuff gets more unstable and explosive over time, causing the airbag metal canister to burst and spew shrapnel everywhere. 10+ deaths already, several in low speed parking lot impacts. One guy died with his neck sliced open by a hockey puck sized piece of metal.

Anyone know who makes the **driver** side airbag? I'm hoping its Autoliv as I really don't want to be driving with a potential grenade a few inches from me.

I'm going in for the recalled passenger side later this week so I'll ask then. But they could say anything...not too confident at this point when they thought using **ammonium nitrate** as a propellant was a good idea.

**Update**

Service guy had no clue if the driver side was made by Takata.....didn't even know that they were going bankrupt.

Said to wait for another recall letter later if deemed necessary :/
