Default Adjust Headlights

Does anyone knows how to adjust the headlights on a Civic Sedan?

I have a coupe, but I assume the adjuster will be the same, if not very similar. There is only one adjuster on each headlight (for up and down). It kinda looks like a quarter sized silver washer with notches in the side of it and a bolt in the middle of it. You turn that bolt ( 8 mm ) in either direction to make it go up or down. Here is a picture of the one on the passenger's side. The green circled area is the adjuster. Name: headlightadjustment.jpg

The one on the driver's side looks the same, but you have to move the radiator overflow reservoir (very easy to pull out and pop back in) to get to it.

I don't remember which direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise) makes it go up or down but you can figure it out.

The best way to make sure your headlights are level is to find a flat wall on level ground and park with your headlights as square to the wall as possible about 20-25 feet away. Make sure you are doing this at night. Adjust your headlights up or down and measure on the wall about 3.5 feet up. Bring the beam of your lights to there and level to each other. First time I did it, I set them to 4 feet but I was blinding people like crazy, so I brought them down to 3.5 ft.

*Be patient because it takes a long time to move the headlight a good distance; if you are turning the bolt, the headlight is moving. At first, watch the light beam on the wall, to see which way it goes when you turn it in either direction.*

In the manual, it says to go to your dealership to have them adjust your headlights.

Thanks a lot. My major problem was that I have to move the radiator overflow reservoir. I don't know if I have to push it with a lot of power.

you pull it up, don't worry about force. It just snaps/clips in

Yup. As easy way to do that, is to pull the black hose out of it's little holders and those will give you somewhere to grip. Pull firmly up. I find (for some reason) that it is always easier to re-clip the hose into it's holders before trying to get it back in. It never works when the hose isn't clipped.
