I have a couple of questions for you.

(1) If this car is available in North America only with the 8 speed automatic (actually a DCT with a torque converter), would you still want it?

(2) If it ends up being built in the USA, but it has an Acura nameplate and it turns out to be either a coupe or a sedan instead of the UK/EU hatch, would you still want it?

2) Depends how it looks. But since acura I'll assume they'll overload it with tech/luxury bs. Also it will most likely cost quite a bit more soley on the fact it has the Acura name. If it's in the mid $30k wtf is the point? I'd just get an sti at that point. Also if it ended up being a coupe that would be an instant deal breaker for me.

Considering it's actually European, no. JDM import shops are just that, JDM import shops. Japan hasn't even had a Civic since 2010 or so, and currently only Europe has Type Rs. Ironic isn't it?

Civic Type-R only stop production in 2012 in Japan. The only civic Japan will see is a Type-R.

We're not sure if the turbo edition will be release stateside or not but cross your fingers. We might even see a turbo crz and fit as well with 8sp DCT transmissions.

Sorry to bring this up after it's been dead for a month, but why would this have a DCT in it? It isn't a Lamborghini or Koningsegg(sp?), Honda will only offer a DCT for a super car like a new NSX and that may even be pushing it for Honda.

Why? The K-Motor version of the TLX P-AWS car is going to have an 8 speed DCT.

Some fun and not so fun hatchbacks of the top of my head w/o searching online:
Focus(turbo), Fiesta(turbo), Spark, Sonic(turbo), Mazda 2 and 3, Fiat 500(turbo), mini(turbo), Heck, even Hyundai has the Veloster(turbo).

So where's the "fun" honda hatch back? ahh yes the CRZzzzzzzzz.

I will agree that Turbo's and Hatche's are comming back in full force, just like the previous post a ton of cars are turbo hatches right now. I personally have enjoyed my occasional cruise im my buddies Cobb Tuned Focus ST, minus the wheel spin . Will Honda do this for America, possibly now, look at the trends, look how popular the SI got after the EM1. Turbo motors are the in thing now, so we have the chance to see one. I have read too that its more likely to be a k20 turbo then that crazy earth dreams motor the Type R is using. Like the rest of you I can only dream and pray they take it down a notch with that crazy body.

In a TLX rollout talk the other day, representatives mentioned that in the 2016 model year, all Acura models would have AWD as at least an available option.

Just mentioning that in case it has any bearing...which it would have, it they decide the "CTR" US-concept hatch is supposed to be an Acura, not a Honda.

I just hope it does not become an Acura so they can put 'TEK' in it and charge out the wazoo. Just get rid of Acura make everything a Honda and charge for add ons. Its how it is everywhere else, correct? Honestly i would be ok with my mothers 2013 TL having AWD with that V6, but its something I steal for long road trips, not for driving around my local mountains . The civic is meant to be fun not luxorious.

Sort of.

It's controversial among Honda fans and Honda employees.

Lexus is almost totally separated from Toyota, to the point that it is a recognized brand overseas and with different marketing organizations.

Acura is much more closely connected to Honda than some Acura dealers would like, that's for sure.

It's more awkward than the other sort-of-luxury brands like Lexus, that's for sure. Much harder to draw lines with Acura, where one brand stops and the other one starts.

1. How/why would a dual-clutch tranny have a torque converter? The torque converter would take the place of the clutches. I would be OK with a real dual-clutch tranny because it shifts faster than a person could, but I'd hate for them to put in just a regular automatic.

2. I think the name is pretty important for people who grew up dreaming about the Civic Type R. As for everyone else, I think this type of customer is mostly interested in performance for the $ (i.e. Evo, WRX), not so much about the leather seats, sunroof, etc. I think putting the Acura name and extras on there would jack up the price enough that other cars would sound better.

It smooths out the shifting so that the car shifts more like an RLX Hybrid and less like a Porsche. If you've driven a PDK, you'll know how un-smooth they are.
