2007 Si Rust Issues
What's up everyone! My girl owns a 07 Si. She bought it brand new with zero miles and just recently she noticed a rust spot by the passenger side window behind the rubber molding (top part). It's pretty much all rusted out. The driver side is now also starting to rust. Are these a common spot for the newer civics to rust? Any inputs or advice? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I don't, but I will have her take a picture and I will post it ASAP. The car was never repaired, unless it was repaired before she bought it without her knowing it.

Re: 2007 Si Rust Issues
That's the Issue with these mass produced cars. I work at a GM dealership and we get cars from 2009 that are completely covered in surface rust. Dealerships are good at hiding faults from the factory so I wouldn't be surprised if it was resprayed by the dealer to cover some blemishes

Re: 2007 Si Rust Issues
I would take it into the dealer. They should cover it based on Hondas 5 year rust perforation warranty
Rust Perforation Limited
Warranty — All exterior body
panels are covered for
rust-through from the inside for
the specified time period with
no mileage limit.
here is a link
https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...494O00210A.pdf.
When you go in remember you catch more bees with honey than vingar. Dont puff your chest out stomp your feet and make threats, ask to have the area evaluated and get corprate involved if need be. I have a very good dealer here and never have had a problem getting things covered, I know that isnt the exp with many dealers. Good luck

Re: 2007 Si Rust Issues
That looks like there was no primer or paint on that spot, I would contact Honda directly on that see if they will at least take care of the repair before it gets too bad.
For now on a black car like that I would scuff the spot being careful not to causing damage to the rest of the paint, primer and paint the spot so it stops the air from causing more rust.
Stop the moisture in the air from causing more damage, primer will not stop rust it just helps paint stick to metal it will not stop the rust, if left alone it will spread.
Washing your car every week or everyday is not the answer, it's keeping the car dry, washing and leaving the car wet or sticking it in the garage keeps the moisture in the body.

I would replace that door that has gone too far to repair, save the door in case you decide to launch a case against honda
Send a few of those pics to honda with a letter telling them how pissed you are maybe honda will buy the car back I don't think they would want a car like that one representing honda.
Make a small movie and put it on you tube....

I also have a spot of rust on my 06 si on the drivers door, 30k miles, never seen snow. Very odd place to rust.
My trunk had a spot of rust too right where the rubber bump stop is screwed into the trunk lid. I took off the rubber stopper and sanded it down then painted it.
