Default Why No Type R?

If we had the Integra Type R, shouldn't the usa also have gotten a Civic Type R? I'm pretty sure Honda has everything they need in order to do it. Anyways we need a real honda sports car! Another hardcore Type R would be wonderful.
I would love to get my hands on a stock (just a personal preference) ITR but most that i come across have already been modified

Imagine if the FD2 CTR was actually sold here.
It would've given american cars a run for their money
Its just a bummer that the only other way of getting a type r is importing one and going through a long and very tedious process that may not even succeed in getting your type r somewhat legal for regular road use. Maybe moving to japan might solve this lol

Well i'm just another type r fan being hopeful and sharing my toughts

Simply put americans would not buy a 30k civic with 2.0 litter with no turbo and fwd. NO sunroof, no radio.

I think the type R has a radio doesnt it ? and I thought the type r was 25k but I'd pay 30k for one. Im just not sure it can be imported as it is . Plus I dont think that Honda thinks we want this car . They tone the type R way down for England the SI is a perfarmance luxury mix that honda seems to think we want

BTW here is a very informative type R link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndaUTJUEzDg

I enjoyed the video, and I agree. Honda should grace us with a Type R again. After all, we gave them the chassis for the car in the first place...

I've seen that best motoring video before and it makes me want one even more lol
But the people who buy the type R wouldn't care for a sunroof its a type R, its like the s2000 CR. if you want luxury and a sports car maybe the type R isn't for you, perhaps a bmw m3 will suit you more

Luxury isn't always a stereo and sun roof... it can be the fact that a 2.0L can smack the gob off of any unsuspecting big block ( within reason of course) and still be halfway civil in traffic...

Honda is heading with a new direction lately, trying to go green

I doubt we will see any type R models for the next few years here in North America

I'm sorry, but those two cars cannot be compared to one another. Both are completely different machines. Type R or not, there is no equivalence in "sport" with an M3. You can say the FD2R is sporty because that's pretty much the only thing going for it. However, an M3 will run circles around it on a track while also being luxurious.

Do not forget, Honda is not run by automobile enthusiasts, but by accountants. By acknowledging that one fact, you already know they will never introduce a single rendition of any Type R to the states.

/bitching.

i would like some valid research on that claim. you do need to remember where all the designing and r&d starts. in honda co japan.

I think that Rodrez wrote a really good editorial article this month in Honda Tuning that hit this nail right on the head. If Honda has never given us anything good, why would they start now?

i'd be happy with a car that isn't so SUV status. even the crz imo looks too big. but this ctr would deff be worth it imo.

I found my ITR as close to stock as possible. Very rare, especially in CA.

Yeah, beyond the ITR's short lived release in the states, it's not going to happen for a long time.

well, they DID sell a type r here, so saying that honda will never sell a type r here doesn't make sense. it was sold for 4 years; i think that was a pretty good run for it. they also lost money on them, so i'm sure they weren't exactly in a rush to bring another type r over.

The FD2 Civic Type R has been discontinued in Japan due to emissions and the FN2 Civic Type R will not be sold in Europe also due to emissions standards.
It's the world we live in now, everything is going green.

They designed it, but the Honda plant in Alliston Ontario Canada makes the chassis parts and sends them to Japan for assembly. Just as Japan does for the Fit in the rest of the world.

That is just outsourcing of manufacturing of parts. How does outsourcing tie in with designing for Japan?
