2006 Civic fender well replacement
I ran over something at night on the highway and tore up the plastic shield and passenger side inner fender well on my 2006 Civic. I have the parts but need the fasteners.
Has anyone out there done this and know what size plastic fasteners to buy. I was going to get them at the Honda dealer but they are closed.
I will need to get them at a local auto parts store and last time I needed them for another project there were so many different kinds It was hard to choose the right ones.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack

Re: 2006 Civic fender well replacement
I got the plastic replacement pieces for my car from partsgeek.com. The prices were great and I got them in one day. I picked up the plastic clips from the Honda dealer because I didn't want to mess around with clips that didn't quite fit. My old clips were completely destroyed from when I hit the foreign object on the highway so pulling old ones out and going to a local auto parts store didn't seem like a good option. The clips at the dealer were pricey. They also didn't sell me enough to do the job complete, even though I told them what I needed. So I took some of the new clips over to NAPA and found exactly what I needed to complete the job. They were about 40% cheaper than the dealer, If I had it to do over again, I would have went to the dealer for 1 of each style clip and then would have went to Napa to match them up as they had a really great selection of clips. The ones I needed to complete the job were an exact match. That would have saved me about 20 bucks on the overall repair. The inner fenderwell and the underneath plastic were $70.00 shipped and the clips cost me $60.00 so the full cost of the repair was $130.00. I can't imagine what a body shop would have charged me. I also added some zip ties in some other key spots to make the repair even better. My bumper had some damage underneath and I didn't want to replace it, so I used gorilla tape which seemed to work just fine. So that's a recap on the repair.
My car is a 2006 Civic that I bought brand new and has 246,000 miles. It is showing signs of age visually, but mechanically it is an incredibly reliable car. I am still on the original clutch, and the only part I have ever replaced was the AC compressor. (I have replaced the front rotors once and only done the front brakes twice and the rear brakes once). I run synthetic oil, mostly Valvoline, as the 5 qt containers at Walmart are usually the best price.
Thanks for the help and hopefully I won't have any repairs to do any time soon !!!
