Budget? You could of course start with the basic i/h/e. I'm not familiar with NC laws regarding modifications and tests.

Re: 08 SI

If 1200 is your budget, I would recommend a PLM or skunk2 alpha header, flashpro, and an e-tune from e-tunez.

Price breakdown is as follows:
- PLM/SKunk2 alpha: 400-450
- Flashpro: anywhere from 500-700
- e-tunez etune: 200

IMO, thatll give you the best bang for your buck. Prices depend on if you can find it used. Both of those headers have some issues that youll want to read up on. However, since you said you aren't in a rush, I would ultimately recommend that you do your own research and make up your own mind. Then, you have no one else to blame but yourself for the decisions that you make, and you'll actually know what you are getting into.

I'm pretty new so I'd do some research to find out what they all do but yea skunk2 is a good way to go with exhaust. You can find the parts anywhere and it sounds great

Re: 08 SI

Skunk2 Alpha Header for like $500
Hondata Flashpro (check 8th gen, i was able to pick one up for $400)
Id say CAI or SR or a used exhaust. You can do them yourself and a buddy and get the tune at a shop

In simple terms they remap your ecu, they can change fuel trims, when vtec kicks in (if equipped) throttle response etc, depends on the tune.

Some are piggy backed off the current ecu with a harness.

Basic tune things, headers, many options out there, exhaust many options. I do not recommend getting rid of the cat converter, some may tell you to I would not.
