07 Civic EX new rear shocks KYB GR-2 Excel G Stiff ride ??
Greetings,
About 1200 miles ago I replaced the rear OEM shocks on my unmodified Civic with these KYB shocks. Holy crap !!!!!
They ride like a truck. Not quite like a solid hard-tail, but very close to it. The ride is fine on smooth pavement with minor defects, but almost any usual cracks/defects/bumps in the road surface that I go over feels like I am directly connected to the road surface. The shocks do bounce ever so slightly with a manual "jounce test". I get about 1/2-3/4" travel when manually jouncing the back of the car with some of my weight. So I know they're not "frozen".
I really liked the OEM ride. On the Rock Auto page for this item, was a chart that showed these shocks very close to OEM in performance. This was my major reason for buying them.
Anybody else find this with these shocks.
Tnx.

KYB GR-2 are junk.
They barely rebound/decompress when brand new.
I've had 3 sets on 7th and 8th gen Civics and they were all the same - very harsh ride.
I don't have any idea how people live with GR-2s.
