ALL engines use up a certain amount of oil between changes and it seems some more then others. My Si uses some but not enough to make me have to check it every thousand miles. I use AMSOIL Synth. 5W40 and change my oil/filter at 7500 miles. Although I check mine weekly, it's always been between the mark, so most of the time I never add during 7500 miles. In the summer however, if I'm autocrossing, I check it and fill it if I'm going to compete. I learned my lesson from an S2000 that blew an engine at one autox because they didn't check their oil and were very low (not sure how many quarts). I'd check to make sure there isn't a small leask nobody is detecting.

Well I got an Si that no matter how I drive it after 3000 I go to do the oil change there is 1qt and 1/4 oil burned for every 3000. Went to Honda and I am getting my engine taken apart and possibly rebuilt this week coming. Just got to know what Honda dealer to take it to some want to make the money some don't and are to lazy cause they have a lot of cars coming in. I go to Bronx Honda in NYC and they take care of me every time. This job is being covered under warranty and most likely I will have a rebuilt engine in two weeks. Now my problem is that my engine is taking in oil thru the rubber hose that connects from the valve cover to the intake and burning it thru the intake manifold. I found this out when I took my intake off (stock intake) and went to change the filter and clean the intake when I noticed a stream of oil coming from the intake and into the manifold. These guys mean business over here they are ready to rebuild it just for that little problem.

the si burnign oil is normal, however over a quart in 3k miles is quite a bit, if you vtec often it will burn oil and yes the oil goes through that little ruber hose from the vc to the intake tube, theres a thread on it in detail on the 8thcivic forum i read.
every 3k miles i usually add about 1/5-1/4 of a quart

Use 15W40 oil and probably the car will burn less oil
