What bearings do I need?
 

2002 Honda Civic Dx Coupe D17a1

There is not much left of the rod bearing and I cant find any color on any bearing.

A connecting rod bearing went bad and I dont know what size I need, its definitely not standard size becuase I ordered that and it still has alot of play.
On the connecting rod is stamped 3
On the crankshaft counterweight is stamped C and 2 on either side of that rod.

After removing the crank bridge support I found that my main bearings were contaminated with oil and started getting damaged from the debris from the bad rod bearing. I dont know what size in these I need either, I have pictures attached of the stamped codes on the backside of the main bearings, there was only two different codes and the only difference was the end letter as far as I can tell.

I would replace all of the bearings while shes open.
You werent very clear in your post. Did you spin any of the bearings?

The rod bearing on cylinder 2, closest to transmission, spun. I removed what was left of it and polished the crank as well as I could.

you need to have that crank machined/ground properly at the machine shop or you'll just be throwing your money away trying to rebuild it. any good machinist will know that cranks can warp when subjected to the heat of a spinning bearing. all journals will likely need to be ground true.

for bearing sizing, the machinist will be able to tell you how much he removed. buy "oversized" bearings to that spec. measure with green plastigage to ensure proper clearance before assembly.

if you can find a good condition crank at the salvage yard or something just find the numbers/letters on it that code the bearing size. there are also letters or numbers on the block somewhere (your factory service manual should show you where. you should have a factory service manual if you expect to be succesful in your repair attempt) purchase bearings according to the size/color in the chart in your manual. check with green plastigage.

I dont need it to last another 10 years, I just need it to last another month before I swap in k20a2

They gave you some really good advice. Does not cost much to have a crank ground and polished, and the machine shop will sell you the mains and rods cheap. Also your gonna need to put in a new oil pump. Clean the pickup screen super good too, That metal is all in your engine now.

Thank you Steve, that is helpful. For whatever reason I threw a magnet in the oil pan when I changed the gasket and it wasn't long after that the rod bearing spun, I know it doesn't make much difference, I was really hoping I could get it to last for a few more weeks until the motor and parts for the k20 swap come in. Trying to save money but I have to have something to drive.
