Default Swap out Lx to a JDM D17A ignition issue

Hi, newbie here and I already need some help!
I am doing a swap out on my 03 Civic LX (non vtec) and putting a JDM D17A with automatic transmission in it. I have the jdm ecu and harness but not the ignition.
My question is what do I need to do as far as an ignition and key switch? Do I go an find an EX ignition(vtec) or can I get my existing LX ignition to work?
And if I do need to get an EX ignition and key do I need the matching ECU that goes with the key or use the ecu that came with my jdm engine.
I hope this isn't too confusing and any help is greatly appreciated.

The ignition is only half the battle. You will need to go to the dealer and have your ECU programmed to match your existing keys. That cost alone will probably offset the money you saved by switching to the cheaper VTEC engine.

Also you will need to convert your entire exhaust which will require extending the wires to your secondary oxygen sensor. You will also need to add a connector for the VTEC solenoid.

Oh yeah one more thing... 01-03 models are non-EGR. 04-05 models as well as 01-05 VTEC models have EGR so you will have to wire that up as well as the VTEC solenoid.

EGR valves exist on 01-03 model Civics. I don't know where you saw that they didn't. They didn't come on 01-03 Civic LX and DX engines, if that's what you're referring to.

That's exactly what I already said. What were you reading?

For the record, they did NOT exist on 01-03 LX models which is what the OP has. Don't confuse him!

You posted this: "Oh yeah one more thing... 01-03 models are non-EGR."

That is incorrect. I did mention that they didn't come on the OP's car in my post, if you read further on.

That is NOT incorrect. Only VTEC models 01-03 had EGR. Why would he care about other models that don't pertain to him?

This is a pointless discussion. This guy is probably not even coming back to read any of this.

You're statement was all-inclusive, and that's what makes it incorrect. This isn't an argument, that's a point of fact.

I know that the EGR system was only included on VTEC models, as I made reference to it with this statement: "They didn't come on 01-03 Civic LX and DX engines, if that's what you're referring to."

And, the user may be interested in this information, considering he's interested in swapping in a D17A and running EX components. So, this information is 100% relevant.
