Parking brake adjustment ?
Hi I have a 2005 Honda civic ex special edition automatic and recently had my rear brakes done had new drums, shoes and new hardware put on. The guy who did them adjusted the parking brake to the wheels but it's still not tight when I pull up the handle in the car it doesn't give much resistance and takes 18 clicks to get it up all the way.
I know there is a adjustment nut but not quite sure how to get to it I tried taking the back of the center console off but it will not budge feels like there are more screws by where the rear cup holder is but I don't see any,
also when I first take the car out for a drive I hear grinding coming from the rear passenger wheel I believe when I first brake but then it goes away not sure if this is normal.
thanks any help would be appreciated

Re: Parking brake adjustment ?
You have grinding coming from the rear, and the ebrake doesn't engage until late in the throw. Seems like a pretty poor brake job.
For the ebrake adjustment, you'll need to remove the center console to access the adjustment screw for the cables. Once you get the cover off, you'll easily be able to see the adjustment screw right behind the ebrake handle.

Dont adjust the nut on the handbrake. Make him adjust the rear shoes.
Make sure he used a new spring and adjuster kit! its about 30$ for both so no excuse why it wouldnt have been changed during the brake job
Cheap brake shoes and cheap drums can build up rust enough rust in 12 hours to sound like they are bad. Or hes just a bad mechanic

Yeah I had a guy I work with do my brakes he's done drum brakes before and looked like he knew what he was doing but perhaps he still did a poor brake job. Should have just had a garage do it
