P1457 code on 02 civic

Re: Re: (crazyredneck422)
Well, I recommend diagnosing the system.
Remove the lines to and from the 2way valve. Check for a brownish liquid coming from the lines and the valve. But, that still isn't diagnosing the system. Finding the fault requires engergizing solenoids, confirming that the computer can energize solenoids, checking for internal/external leaks, making sure that the solenoids are actually working and that there are no internal blockages.
I have replaced 2 computers because they werent energizing the bypass solenoid, too.

Re: P1457 code on 02 civic
I have searched and read all of the threads for the P1457 DTC code. I wanted to bump this one back to the top to see if anyone could help me diagnose what part may be malfunctioning on my 01 Civic. According to the Service Manual, you are suppose to test/replace the parts in this order:
EVAP Canister Purge Valve
EVAP Two Way/Bypass Solenoid Valve
EVAP Canister Vent Shut Valve
EVAP Canister
Two questions:
1. If I have a pressure build-up that is released when I unscrew the fuel cap, does that give anyone any indication of which of these it might be?
2. Does anyone know how accessible the canister and two way solenoid are on the 01 Civic...are they on top of the fuel tank?
