Odd engine noises with AC on
I recently replaced the Air Intake on my 2001 Honda Civic LX and for whatever reason it has been making a weird engine noise. The noise eventually goes away once I get up and going but does anyone have any idea what might cause this.
It sounds like it might be coming from the Intake but not too sure.

Sounds like you're thinking of the Fuel Injectors. They make a "hissing" noise when you put the throttle down.

Re: (smk)
I hear it when I first turn on the car if I have my AC on, it isn't as loud with it off. Sometimes I hear it when I first press down on throttle.

It sounds like it's just your intake... some types make more than others depending on what they are made out of...<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by toyomatt84 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

Your intake can also make a "hissing" sound but its more of a "sucking", does it the sound change when you shut the car off?

Re: (thinknology)
That maybe what it is, the sound dies down when I shut off the car next time I get in I will pay better attention to it.

Alot of times when you shut your car off (I know mine does this) it will kinda of resemble the old school movie sound of someone shutting the power off (hard to describe)

I don't really know what you mean by a old movie but it sounds like it is winding down when I shut off the engine and a sucking noise.

Lol yeah sorry it made sense in my head but I'd say if said noise started right after you put the intake on it sounds like its your intake making noise... and if you get on the engine the engine will sound noticably louder, sounds pretty sweet for a d17 IMO
But if your worried about it put the stock one back on and see if it still makes the sound, I'd be willing to put money on it that it's your intake... that is if I was a bettin' man
Enjoy it I think intakes make a pretty sweet sound
